everyone is free to speak, the only reason why i don't like the company holding my passport is because one of my colleges locally hired wants to resign, but wasn't allowed for 1 and a half years.

I even asked to submit at least a letter that they are holding my passport, but they dint agree to it. which recently there have been so many fires going on here, which is risky to what i think.

I don't normally disagree with MM, because MM usually doesn't actually say anything.

All of the people who used to post on QL have moved to the Doha based groups on Facebook, as well as Doha News.

Mod should ban a lot of people boxbe. QL has died because of some boring users who just write crap all day long. Who would bother logging in to this site anymore? I barely come, and when I do I'm reminded why this site has become a waste of time.

It's completely illegal for the company to hold your passport against your wishes unless for the purposes of visa formalities. If this is how your company behaves, you might be lucky if they sack you. Then you can find a real job with a real employer that follows the law. If your company breaks this law who knows what will be next - no salary paid on time?

Most families leave their children in hostels / boarding schools for years together at their home countries but never raise a hue and cry about that ! Khalli , You have to agree with me , We send our wife to hospital for a new baby , we keep our money in a bank , we hand over our car to Garage / with the mechanics , we remain on our employers premises daily , key of oue villa's lock remain in our pocket for 9 hours , then what 's there to object for not leaving a travel-booklet with your employer which actually doesn't belong to you as you said above ! ... Agree with safirah & now exit permit system is there in qatar because of that you cannot leave the country without your sponsor's permission,so keeping your passport with sponsor is not at all explainable in any circumstances.

our passport is our personal property. employer should not get if from you, except for visa formalities and stamping.

Khalli , Either you like or not , companies keep PPs more securely than at our own home. One time a colleague's wife hid that fellows PP as she opposed his trip to his mother without her. .......... , Mon , 12.05.2014 , 12.22 hrs

That is for safe keeping at no extra cost. Most people liked that and no issues as Molten has hinted out , workers are handed over that document when they leave for their vacations.

You don't know the reason of keeping PPs with the sponsors for the past 3 decades.

your employer don't have the authority to hold your passport..but wait till next month where the qatar labor will provide offices to file your complain against your employer.
