one tip only, be afast reader and writer. you will have limited time to read, listen and write, so better practice coz you will not have time to re read or use a draft for writing. other than that it's not that hard .

Well, only those persons should prepare for IELTS who don't have full command on ENGLISH otherwise no need to waste ur time and money.

The tricky part is only HEARING only as u will hear conversation and during conversation you have to search for answer and note down in your answer sheet. You will get few minutes to see your question paper before commencing to next stage.

Very easy as i got 6.5 BANDS without having any preparation at all.

2 types of IELTS --- Academic and General

I took the General since I want to qualify to work in UK, AU, or Canada.

THINGS to REMEMBER:

> Practice reading and understand what you're reading.

> In Speaking part, just remember PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.

Record your voice while answering sample questions the interviewer might ask. Review them and know your problem areas and improve them. Also remember there are no right or wrong answers in the Speaking. Even if the interviewer asks you something you haven't experienced but you have read about it just expound on it and build the topic from there. This is the crucial part so no, uhms... aahs... while speaking to the interviewer. Stretch out your asked topic a bit and don't stop talking when you haven't seen the interviewer satisfied.

To study you need the Academic IELTS, the other one is basic English for people who want to live and work in the UK, Australia ...etc.

IELTS is quite simple if you have studied in english medium school & your mother tongue is not english. My daughter scored 8.5 out of 9 without much preparation.

There's no pass or fail in IELTS, it just measures the English language skills...

There are 2 IELTS exams, one is for people applying to study, another is for people wanting to live in the UK (and maybe the other IELTS countries...)

To all worried IELTS exam takers, its really not a biggie.

If you've had English during School, then you DEFINITELY NEED NOT WORRY.

Most of the time we fail to understand the purpose of an exam, in most cases, IELTS is a Visa requirement, you don't have to top the exam.

one has a good command on ENGLISH. I got 6.5 band without spending an hour for preparation. If you do know good english (in all forms) then don't worry and just go to the examination and give your best. ITS VERY EASY & have confidence in yourself.

Every sections has ample time to give answers with ease and the staff is very helpful. You will be provided with pencil,eraser,sharpner.

You must have to bring along your QID or PASSPORT copy whatever you have mentioned in your application.

So just relax ONLY IF you have good command on ENGLISH otherwise you need ENGLISH CLASSES to make your english good but there is no need to get yourself prepared for IELTS.

Listening : be very attentive, make sure you understand everything, and answer the questions as you hear the tape, the questions are in the correct order. I was reading the next question, waiting for the answer, and writing it as I listened to the tape.

Reading : Also make you understand everything...

Writing: You need to write correctly.

Speaking: You should be confident and ready for any question.

and better search for tips on how to do the tests esp reading else ull never finish on time

Here are a few tips for IELTS.

1.) Writing-1st) - paragraph structure 2nd.) Grammar structure (If you are talking in the past –past tense verbs) (articles are often missed or confused, focus study) - spelling and lack of vocabulary will hurt you but showing you understand the foundation helps boost scores. Also, focus your discussion to the topic. Don’t just write stuff for word count

2.) Listening- read questions beforehand- underline key words to listen for during the audio- good for listening for specific information- for overall comprehension- practice note-taking skills( writing down main points –key information), then practice it without writing (mental note-taking)

3.) Reading- read questions first- when practicing- look at the question- what is it asking you to answer/ understand/read for? During the reading (Note) - main theme/topic- what arguments/facts has the author introduced- What conclusion/ suggestions has the author introduced? How has he/she come to this conclusion?

4.) Speaking- biggest thing here is to be able to expand on a topic. If your examiner asked you ‘Is pollution an issue in Qatar?’ Yes-more! How? Why? –Examples?- Suggestions to make it better (critic analysis- thinking)- Read the newspaper, watch the news, be able to express opinions using referencing on world issues and current affairs..

it has around 10 books for preparation of ielts.

No need to join any course..

it is more enough to score upto 9.

Good luck, you will need it! In spite of the fact the preparing for IELTS requires formal tuition, like British council etc; I frankly think it's a system just to rip you off out of your money.

I have studied in English since the beginning, and the test is not only confusing but designed badly. Even teachers have a hard time of it, from what I've heard.

I'm not sure what you need the test results for, but bear in mind that the cost and time that goes into the whole thing will really pile up.

There are books available along with CD for listening. Its in 2 vol. I think the Jarir stocks them. Also, British Council holds preperation classs for the exams.

Personally, I would suggest you start listening to BBC regularly. Will really help you in the listening part.
