Primary Health Centres

Hi

Can anyone tell me where exactly any of the Hamad Medical Authority Health Centres are. I've been told I need to go there to get a Hamad Medical Card. They're the places with green hexagons outside - I'm sure I've seen one around but can't find any now that I need to visit one!!

Many Thanks.

there are private clinics and there are health centres affiliated to the main hospital run by govt.in private clinics u pay and get your checkup, but if u need to go to the govt hospital, or the health centre, then you need to have a health card, for that you normally have to apply at the health centre with all your documents, they will register you first at teh health centre and then file for your health card, with the card you can use the health centre, the paedeatric emergency centres and the hospitals.

its not like you will e denied treatment if you dont have the card, it will create delays, so if you are residing here, then it is better to have the card, once you have registered for the card, you can use teh receipt for all services.

alternatively you can use the private clinics, like Al Shefa, Al Rafa, doha clinic hospital for the immunisation, if you have a track of the immunisation, then you can inform them and they will do the needful, since they usually have a well baby clinic.

Could I ask why you need a Hamad Medical Card? The reason being is that I have just arrived in Doha with my husband and one month old daughter. We are here until December. I am wondering if I will need to obtain one as well or if I can just attend a Primary Health Centre for check ups and 2 month immunisation. I am also keen to locate one relatively close to where I am living.I am living in an apartment complex close to the sports roundabout (if that means anything to anyone). Thanks

I'm also looking for the al-gharrafa government medical center, and have not been able to find it just be driving around or using the maps I have (including the Marhaba one). I'm reasonably good with maps and directions, but it's still a challenge finding places where maps don't have all the streets and most places don't have street addresses.

Can anyone say where the al-gharrafa medical center is?

Thanks!

Do you have a map of doha, the little one that Marhaba sells? If you do, look for 3 green giant lollypops, that's how PHC's are signed in Qatar.

ah, i wasn't aware i needed to visit a particular one! guess that saves a wasted visit! i live near al lucqta, near the al gharrafa roundabout. i've looked on the Hamad Medical website (http://www.hmc.org.qa/hmcnewsite/hmcmaps.aspx)and the closest one could be either al gharrafa or madinat khalifa - but i can't find any directions or addresses.

any help is appreciated!

You need to go to the one covering the area where you live. Where do you live?
