Rental Car Insurance
By ExpatinQatar •
I am renting a car now with full insurance coverage, last week on the highway a small rock hit the windshield glass and caused a crack. When I got a police report against anonymous vehicle for that incident and gave it to car retnal office, they told me I have to pay QR2000 for insurane company since there is no second party in the accident. i'm arguing with them that the car is fully insured and I don't have to pay anything since I did not cause the accident and they insist to get QR2000..please advise !!!
I believe you will have to pay, the exact amount if its 2000 or 1500 will be in your rental contract, normally I heard of 1500.
If it is not your mistake in the accident report normally they don’t charge, depends on your rental agency’s policy.
I had heard of instances that the rental company charge cost of full repair (it was 3500 in that case) and 15days rent (another 1500) for the time the car was in workshop from one of my colleague. You can alternatively check the actual cost of repair and if it is below your penalty you can do it by yourself.
Salaam brother,
Its true rent a car here sucks big time. Though the car is fully insured, they claim the insurance money from your end irrespective of whatever the accident cause is. Its unfair to pay the insurance money from our end. What to do, this is their rule. These terms are clearly specified on the contract & terms paper they provide while you rent a car. Sad that you will end up paying at any cost.
