Retrieve Driving License

I worked in a company in Doha and recently left it for good. But they hold my DL to give clearance. Although the company paid for my License fees I had also invested lots of money in the form of Test fees and and did lots of effort to somehow get DL. It was difficult for me since I was driving for the first time in gulf. Any way when I resigned I wrote letter to MD of my company requesting for DL. But they summarily rejected it. They don't have any use with it and might throw away after some time. I was also ready to give full amount to company. Now I am living in Chennai and looking for job in other gulf countries and so if I could somehow get my DL back it will be a lifesaver for me. Is there any way I could get it back? The validity is up to December 2019. Since I've got a 2 year ban I could get a work visa for Qatar after that only. Can I go on a visit visa and somehow get it back? Please advise.
