Road trip to Dubai

For all of you who have already travelled by land to Dubai, do you think it would be ok to leave Doha around 3pm ? or Should I save till the next moorning?
(Do the border immigration offices close or anything? is it dangerous to travel by night?)

I already have all my paper work ready.(KSA Visa and all that)

Thanks for your help.

I prefer to drive at night. Less traffic and no line at customs. On my last visit, I left Doha at 1:30 AM and was at Abu Dhabi airport to see a friend at 7:00 AM. Street lights are there at UAE/Qatar side but are missing at saudi roads.

Make sure to have plenty of rest before you travel.

Not a good idea to leave so late, u will arrive very late plus not very safe to travel at night especially through KSA.

Try to leave as early as possible I left at 7am and arrived 6pm in Dubai. Takes an average half an hour to 45 minutes per border crossing plus 6 to 7 hours of driving, so plan well.. If it is your first trip you are strongly recommended to travel in day light..

Good Luck Road tripper..

Friend,

The right time is early morning. The drive to Dubai will take almost 8hrs(including the boarder formalities). Early morning rush at boarder posts will be less... Enjoy your trip....

3pm will get you to Dubai very late in the night, by which time you will be in no fit state to do anything, however it does mean you get a full day the next day.

Conversely, driving at night can also be hazardous - camels, cars with no lights, beside sleepy drivers.
