I am keen on buying a Sequoia. Can someone please tell me if the 4x4 version is ok for basic desert driving. I dont go on the big dunes just drive once in a while to inland sea using the safe route i.e. small dunes.owners please advice.
Sequoia will do fine for light offroading,. let some air out (18 psi) for bigger foodprint and you will be ok even on loose sand.
go for the SMALLEST size rim the offer at the dealer with tall tires not as wide but as high is what you want,. better for offroad then big rims with low tires wich dont handle low airpressure verry well
khannan...agree wid u. i never liked the looks either but it will serve the purpose of a family car for my big family! price and purpose are seeming more imp to me rt now compared to looks.resale is a big factor too and u cant beat toyota to that in the middle east.
I have ruled out the LC/Patrol because of the price. They are much more expensive. Sequoia compares to the tahoe and armada in price.Still doesnt answer my question- is it ok for basic dune driving???
I don't own one, but almost any car is fine for track driving and the small dunes. However, the lousy departure and approach angles and low clearance on your car will be an issue on any higher dunes or uneven terrain. If you're careful it won't be a problem, but one mistake and you could end up with substantial damage and a huge repair bill.
My reccomendation would be to buy an older car (Nissan Patrol, pre-1998 Toyota Land Cruiser, Jeep Wrangler or Cherokee, etc.) to use in the desert and leave the shiny soccer-mom SUV at home ;)
LC is much better in performance and resale value .... for desert driving, i would recommend Nissan Petrol Safari, model 08/09 (not the recent model... the one before that)... i think they produced both shapes for 2010 .. then old shape was discontinued from 2011 onwards...
LAND CRUISERS, LEXUS, SEQUOIA & PRADO are almost in the same style and platform..it makes no difference (observe that); and japanese just equiped them with bigger and powerful engines. This national SUV's of QATAR are the king of the roads (on and off).
NISSAN you will recognized the difference in style/ model among them.... (PATROL, INFINITY, ARAMADA, MURANO & PATHFINDER).

Mohdata, Cracydutch Thanks!Leoz...Yukon does'nt have third row seating for adults.Only the XL has that. plus the price!!!
of all the SUV's
I own 2001 Pathfinder , which is doing enough in sand dunes. It does not beat Land Crusier & Nissan Patrol , but
still taking me any where in Qatar's desert .
