Single mum with daughter moving from UK

Hello,
I have been offered a job in Doha which I am keen to take-up. The salary is QR 25,000. My problem is that my eight year old daughter's biological father is missing. We have had no contact with him for three years and I do not know his family ( he is originally from South Africa). I have read online that in order for my daughter to get a residency permit I need a declaration from him, which I am unable to obtain. My daughter has always lived with me, I've always solely cared for her - I've never had this written into an agreement. Can anyone advise what I can do? In this situation will she be turned down for a residency permit and we will have to leave? Many thanks in advance.

Not the Qatar embassy; the UK embassy in Qatar. PRO stands for Public Relations officer, all companies/employers employ one and the PRO (Mandoob in Arabic) is the one who handles, among others, all immigration related tasks for the employees. Best of luck.

Thankyou very much for your replies, it's much appreciated. I have contacted the Qatar embassy but they did not know what to advise me. what does PRO stand for?

Mary - I have, of course, done a huge amount of research, thankyou. School fees and accommodation are paid in separate allowances, the above is my salary.

Ask your company PRO to check prior with immigration to know their exact requirements to issue visa for your daughter to be sponsored by a single Mom without any documents from biological father.

Hopefully you've done some research on the cost of living in Qatar. Does your employer provide housing, annual tickets, education allowances for your child and medical insurance?

If not, 25000 may or may not go very far depending on your living requirements and taste. Also be very aware that the preferred schools can have very long wait lists depending on your child's age and they can be very expensive

1st, the lady (mother) can come to Qatar on a work permit basis, once she is here and her residence permit is done on her passport, she can subsequently apply for the visa of her daughter as Sponsoring parent. You might require to present the hospital birth certificate or municipality birth certificate where your name as mother shall appear.

Once she gets the visa, she can come and live here under your sponsorship with full freedom.

I would probably ask the employer, the UK attache/embassy or some other fully informed entity to advise me on this, since its the kind of query that needs concrete and verified info. But yes, there's a few UK folk on here too and they might be able to chime in; best of luck.
