if i came to work in qatar as a contractor would i have to pay tax upfront brfore I got paid, or who i be exempt and would i need a dreen card being as i was from uk.? Also would i need visa to work there and where would i obtain it from.?
Why i am asking i have someone asking me to help them out with money as they have so they told me been asked to pay tax up front before they can get paid

Money up front = scam

The stadium work will not even start for at least 5 more year.

The contractors would be liable to withhold tax from payments due to you - if you are non resident and not related to a permanent establishment in Qatar. Rate being 5% or 7% - based on type of services provided.

You should not be paying withholding tax upfront.

if they were a contractor employed to do some work and the contract finished would they have to pay tax then before they got paid? this person is suppose to have built and erected the scoreboards in the football stadiums for the 2022 world cup and installimg the seating on five stadiums,
