texting the states from qatar?

I text from Qatar to T-Mobile in the US. Make sure she is entering the country code - it should be 001(XXX)XXX-XXXX.

^^yeh, skype is not an option because she doesn't have computer access. she does have a cell but the text that she sends i do not receive them. i have tmobile in the states and they are a GSM network i believe. guess ill ask them right?

We use SKYPE to text computer to phone. Works fine. From Qatar to US.

I am saying that you can find out IF their network will accept texts from a foriegn network...

I do not believe USA uses a GSM network.... And basically the rest of the world does.... maybe that is the problem... If I send a text message to family using T-mobile in the States it is a crap shoot whether they will get it or not.... With Nextel (the walkie talkie phones) forget it.....

Check with Verizon they own (or are owned by) Vodafone... maybe their network has the capability to receive messages from outside the US...

u can access AND send SMS thru various carriers such as:

CINGULAR

VERIZON

NEXTEL

BOOST

and Other US mobile operators...

It depends on the carrier in America... Some of them seem to think it unbelievable that any God fearing American would have contact with somebody outside of America...
