VOLUNTEER MEDIATORS FOR MIGRANT LABOURERS
VOLUNTEER MEDIATORS REQUIRED
We are urgently seeking the help of one or two young bilingual (Arabic/Hindu or Arabic/Nepali) Qatari students – possibly studying law – who are willing to assist Nepalese migrant workers to present their cases to the Labour Department, Labour Courts and Human Rights Commission and act as translators for them. In addition, these volunteers will have the opportunity to act as arbitrators between these workers and their company representatives.
Mediation is an important first step in the dispute resolution process. Most of the Nepalese workers facing problems are uneducated and do not have a “voice”; rendering them completely helpless to help themselves.
If you have the skills and the desire, or know someone who does, we’d love to hear from you.
agreed to both above comments... hit off sharply direct to the point... do u guess these people you're seeking could do beyond what a qualified lawyer can do?
everything in life today are all free... with a fee...
~~~winner never quits~~~
What a wonderful idea! That would be MUCH better! Are you offering to pay for the services of a qualified lawyer because we would love to take you up on it.....
And yes, I do think they deserve a real lawyer. I also think they deserve to get paid, get housed in conditions that do not resemble a dungeon, and get fed on a regular basis. However, right now that is NOT happening. Whatever resources we gather are given with love (money and time) in an effort to help those who can't help themselves. The money is being spent to feed them and in some cases pay for rooms.
I think its only fair to give other socially minded people an opportunity to join in the efforts to do what we can. Translators would make the process easier......
"If there is among you a poor man, one of your brethren, in any of your towns within your land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, but you shall open your hand to him, and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be.
Deuteronomy Ch. 15
whats wrong with a qualified lawyer??..do you not think these people deserve someone who knows what they are talking about??
"It is dangerous to be sincere unless you are also stupid."
