What is your opinion on this?
Dear All,
HIA is the no. 1 Airport in the middle east, but last 3 Weeks there is not allowed to enter the airport for Recivers and Senders because of secutity issues. Its very difficult to stay out side in this Summer season. Many family and small childrens are waiting long time out side.hope there will be a solution from the managment soon.
Mallet, Good luck & joys to you my pal ................... You right when stay clear of the obstructions ..................
I love how some of you like to cast stones, especially when you know nothing about a situation. Once your personal information is on the dark/deep web, it is there forever, ready to be shared at any time to whomever wants to pay the money for it. Yes, 3 times in the past 10 years people have taken loans, credit cards, changed my address and basically have stolen my identity. I now pay for a service called Life Lock and will do so for the rest of my life. This service notifies me if anytime someone attempts to use my personal information (name/birthdate/SSN, etc..) I have to enter a code if it is me, otherwise the transactions are not allowed. I no longer carry a normal credit card, just a debit card and a secured credit card which I have 2000 USD available for emergencies. This is the last I will say about this, as I dont believe I should have to explain myself further to onliners who hide behind the keyboard and throw insults at me. Believe me or dont, I really do not care anymore.
Sure, MM, you may be right. When some people post rubbish at QL, day after day, week after week, month after month, lines after lines, misguides after misguides just because they have to write for the sake of writing, I feel very disappointed when they misguide others.
While mallethead has made an attempt to clarify his earlier post, I still have doubts in his story. It does not make sense. But that is my personal opinion.
Mallet, Just ignore Accha ........ He won't leave you so easily ................
If your identity was 'stolen or compromised' thrice, it only shows your weak online skills. I mean it can happen once but not thrice.
Dear acchabaccha and others,
I like to do business in person, rather than online. I have had my identity stolen or compromised 3 times in the past 10 years with more than 300,000 QAR charged to my name. Please dont judge me before you have walked a mile in my shoes.
I had similar situation last week, when I went to send off my family. I urged the security guy to let me go inside the Airport, so as to weigh in luggage as my children are very young to deal with it. He wasn't allowing. I insisted to go and spoke to the police officer, who understood the situation and allowed me go in.
Delhi airport offers visitor's a visiting ticket allowing them to have access to their lounge.
Rail platform tickets are offered in many countries.
You may google and see, how this problem has been fixed.
See, when there is a visitor's ticket, a few will only visit the airport. This in fact acts as a barrier to the uninvited visitors.
However i have to agree, that despite the ticket facility, many will be there waiting outside in the sun and not willing to buy a lounge ticket.
sunshineluv: There are people here who want take each and every opportunity to criticize Qatar even if they need to make up some story and tell lies. You too could see clearly from his post that what he wrote was simply a figure of imagination with little truth or substance in it.
It was a very poor attempt.
Shenu,
You can find very polite and courteous policemen in the UK and if you are angry and want to give a beating to the policeman, for what ever reason, then feel free to visit Pakistan where police are frequently beaten up by the public and angry women.
Asians like to give "Warm Send Off" and "Warm Reception" which is a good traditional, but it is dying now.
Visiting a patient in the hospital is also something that is encouraged by Islam, so that the sick gets the social support for getting well soon.
There should a designated visitors gallery on the airport, because it is a public place for the public. Any public utility has the responsibility to take care of the visitors irrespective of whether they avail their services or not.
Take the example of City Centre, Villagio Mall, Bus station etc.
The airport officials can put up a fee on the people waiting in the waiting/visitors gallery. This is applicable and successful in several far eastern airports and railway stations, where, even if you are not a traveler, you have to buy a "visitor ticket".
@mallethead why in the world didnt you purchase the ticket online?? stop doing these minion tactics.
Maybe, the person doing the job was the professional in this case, and one of the guys was the supervisor with two guys for OJT and third or fourth safety officer.
WT: It is called energy conservation
But it really seems to be an "Asian" mentality issue. Many times I can see one Indian do a job and three or four are standing around watching him. They don't do anything, they just watch. Why?
They do the same when a family member goes to a hospital. 3+3+3 follow him and occupy valuable space.
shenuhina: I have never stated one should not go to the airport when one's family member is leaving or coming here. I have also stated that I have gone many times with my family to see them off. However, the problems arise when three colleagues go to see off a friend or receive him. During the rush season, the 3+3+3+3 adds up to hundreds of "unwanted" people crowding the airport. That is why the security people get a bit strict during this period. As for the respect side, there are people who tend to argue with the security people when they are stopped from entering and this sometimes leads to unpleasant situations.
Just drink a cold glass of lemonade and read my posts again, please.
Given the circumstances around, no govt would like to take any risk. It is better to be strict than repent later. Security comes first.
Perhaps one witness the checking at Srinagar Airport. One has to pass through at-least 6 checking points before you board the flight and the first checking starts half a km away from main terminal.
Dear Acha bachaa,
I am also supporting the security system, but they need to respect and find a waiting area with chairs.
If one of your family member going or coming you will sit in the home?
There are certain things many are overlooking.
It is a habit within some cultures especially from the east that several people go the airport "see off" or to receive someone. I noticed this in S Arabia among the Pathans. I once saw eight of them present at the Riyadh airport to receive a colleague returning from vacation. The "crowd" disappeared once they person arrived. One could "feel the space" that was created after their exit. There was another trend and that was among the Egyptians who would arrive at the airport around eight hours before the flight departure time. I witnessed the authorities sending them back home. This trend I guess has gradually died. It is these unwanted people who just want an evening out or some place to spend away the free hours who are the problem creators.
Having said that, yes there are genuine cases and people at the gates manning the security do listen, understand and act accordingly. I have never been refused entry whenever I went to see off my family. I was stopped though, but when I explained, I was allowed to enter the airport. Lastly, it is usually during the rush seasons that airport authorities become a bit strict and allow "genuine" passengers to enter the airport lounge. This is due to the rush present at airports during these seasons. One can see the same rule applied at other airports in the Middle East and possibly across the world and not just at HIA, Doha.
The steps taken by authorities are just for the convenience of passengers.
As for the post by mallethead, I simply fail to understand why a person would go all the way to the airport to buy a ticket for his wife who will be visiting "next month." Surely, the ticket could have been purchased that day or even a day two later from a travel agent at better rates than directly from Qatar Airways at the airport.
Some posts don't make sense at all.
The issue needs to be listened, while the security is being escalated at the HIA.
Brit is right in suggesting an alternative.
mallethead: You are correct. Many of these security guards see thmselves as demi-gods.. They need to be trained properly.
having said that , there are also many people who insist on going in , when the guard and authorities are saying otherwise
I went to the airport the other day to purchase a ticket from Qatar Airways for my wife who will be visiting next month. At first the security guard downstairs was extremely rude. He put his hand up and said "Not Allowed" and turned his back to me. I tried to ask him why I could not purchase a ticket at the airport, but the sloth refused to answer me. I went to another area upstairs and the security guard let me in to purchase the ticket, which cost 7400 QAR. The guards at should have at a simple explanation for those who are seeing their loved ones off and not be rude to the customers.
And the solution is to have a big heart ....................
Shen my pal .. There is a solution for everything .. Joys
Security is of prime importance everywhere in the world. When it is a matter of airports, it becomes all the more important. If the authorities have taken some steps for the security reasons, they have done so for the benefit of everyone. They have reasons for doing such a step. As such, if you are not happy with the steps taken by the authorities, or your family and children suffer from these steps, just stay at home. It is as simple as that.
There are two aspects to this.. Obviously security comes first. However, the authorities should make some sort of covered space available for those coming to meet / see off families.
Lastly, something that is prevelant here .. Is there really a need for someone to go into the airport to see somebody off ?
Shen, Your issue is valid, but for a broader concern try to bear with the admin ............ it's in our interest ......... although tough ........... try to smile ...............
