All art exhibitions in Qatar during World Cup Qatar 2022
In the run-up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Qatar has emerged into this hub of culture, art, and creativity. There are currently many exhibitions going on in several museums, art galleries, and open spaces. Qatar Museums has been a forerunner in organizing, curating, and hosting most of the art exhibitions within the country, in collaboration with other esteemed organizations and with creative individuals.
Most of these exhibitions can be accessed by OnePass holders or individual tickets can be bought on the Qatar Museums website.
Here are the art exhibitions currently going on in Qatar.
National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ)
Pipilotti Rist: Your Brain to Me, My Brain to You
Internationally acclaimed artist Pipilotti Rist’s art installation in the National Museum of Qatar is a immersive exhibit that symbolizes the power of the human mind. It is fascinating to navigate between 12,000 strung resin-encased LED lights which represent neurons of the brain. With a soothing soundtrack in the background, the exhibit is a multi-sensory experience that shouldn’t be missed.

On the Move
On the Move exhibition is a take on the nomadic and semi-nomadic people belonging to Qatar, Central Sahara, and Mongolian regions. The display consists of interesting objects, historical images, and archival footage.

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art
Taysir Batniji: No Condition is Permanent
The title refers to a single artwork but the entire exhibition is a curatorial display and showcases the artist, Taysir Batniji’s diverse arts across media. The art displays show photographs, prints, drawing, video, installation and performance. The artist’s work focuses on Palestine and the artworks are reflective of settler violence, colonialism, history and trauma.

Sophia Al-Maria: Invisible Labours Daydream Therapy
The artist Sophia Al-Maria opens a dialogue with artists and curators through her multimedia that consist of various media including video, soundscapes, and art installations. The themes are reflective of storytelling as a strategy of imagination, survival, and reclaiming stories.

One Tiger or Another
The exhibition featured artefacts belonging to Indian legendary ruler, Tip Sultan, also known as Tiger of Mysore, such as his sword and cannon belong to his era. There are some 18th century paintings, a contemporary video installation, and contemporary comic books also on display.

Majaz: Contemporary Art Qatar
The Majaz exhibition is a celebration of artworks by the Artists in residence program by Qatar Museums. The exhibiton consists of artworks by multiple artists and explain the ideas fundamental to the modern world. With nearly 36 artists having their work displayed, the Majaz exhibition is definitely going to be thought-provoking for the visitors.

AlMaha Maadeed: Inspirations from the Desert
Created by Qatari artist, Almaha Almaadeed, the exhibition is the artist’s way of archiving family history and cultural memory. Her work strongly reflects her love for natural landscapes and local flora found in Qatar.

Museum of Islamic Arts (MIA)
Baghdad: Eye’s Delight
The outstanding cultural heritage of one of Islamic world’s important cities, Baghdad, is highlighted in this exhibition. The art highlights the socio-political landscape of Baghdad, its traditions, and its tryst with war and destruction—all of which have still not hampered its ability to thrive. Most artefacts as a part of this exhibition are borrowed from the Louvre, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Benaki Museum, and the Vatican.

Safar
This is an exhibition dedicated to the Afghan refugee crisis and highlights Qatar’s bilateral relations with Afghanistan over the last 30 years. There are collections of photographs, videos, and illustrated stories on display for visitos to understand the role of the country and the current and future plight of refugees.

3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum
World of Football
Not one to be missed, the World of Football exhibition is one for all football enthusiasts. The exhibition covers various aspects of football: history, popularity, evolution, global appeal, and even historic milestones. The exhibition also display sports memorabilia like jerseys, footballs, and shoes, some of which have been part of football legends’ careers.

Forever Valentino
The Forever Valentino exhibition is curated by Maison Valentino as a tribute to their founder Valentino Garavani with this one-of-a-kind, the largest exhibition in the Middle East. The exhibition also features over 200 couture pieces by the Maison and other pret-a-porter outfit. Some other rarely-seen outfits worn by Jackie Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, Zendaya, and others will also be on display. This is definitely a must-visit exhibition for art enthusiasts as well as fashion-lovers and designers.

Labour of Love
M7 has brought the travelling Palestinian exhibition, Labour of Love: Embroidering Palestinian History which explores the embroidery's historical importance and transformation in recent decades. The exhibition is a part of Qatar-MENASA's Year of Culture initiative to enable deeper understanding between the nations.
