Katara Traditional Dhow Festival 2022 to begin from November 19
The dates of the 12th annual Katara Traditional Dhow Festival have been announced from November 19 to December 18. The event is held annually under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. This year, the event forms a part of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ festivities. Katara's Traditional Dhow Festival is a must-see for any visitor to Qatar during the World Cup 2022.
With participation from multiple countries including Saudi Arabia, India, Oman, Kuwait, Iraq, Yemen, Tanzania, and Turkey, the event schedule appears rich with a diverse array of cultural activities.
The Katara Traditional Dhow Festival will be kickstarted at 2.30 pm from Katara 32 Beach from November 19 till December 18. The event will begin signaled open with the sailing of a traditional dhow raising the flags of the participating countries of the FIFA World Cup. In the entire festival duration, the dhows will head to Doha Port at sunset, sailing along the stretch of Doha Corniche and Museum of Islamic Arts (MIA) park.
The event schedule consists of marine competitions and workshops for traditional dhow companies. There will be an exhibition displaying marine artifacts like maritime handicrafts, heritage collectibles, and others. The traditional method of ships and maritime activities will also be displayed in programs.
Katara's ongoing efforts to care for heritage and preserve the national identity are reflected in the forum's success over the years, and the forum has evolved into the most important international cultural and heritage forum for reviving maritime heritage in all its originality, arts, and heritage images.
