Katara unveils ‘The Elegance of Glass in Color’ exhibition until July 9 2022.
The exhibition "The Elegance of Glass in Color" by Algerian artist Zahreddine Zaarour was launched by the Cultural Village Foundation in Katara yesterday.
The idea of the exhibition is to introduce the State of Qatar's one-of-a-kind plastic art on frosted glass. Through the diversity of topics and range of sizes and dimensions, it offers a unique opportunity to explore the aesthetics of this art.
In a statement about the exhibition, Zaarour noted that painting on glass is a peculiar and magnificent method that is used only in the Gulf countries. He noted that the exhibition intends to introduce this technique.
This was one of Zaarour’s first exhibitions in Qatar, and he was delighted to present it at Katara Cultural Village, which hosts pioneers from various fields and from all around the world. He stated that he engages in more than 28 paintings that cover a wide range of subjects, including Islamic decoration, Arabic calligraphy, silent nature, as well as numerous pictures of Qatari culture and cultural monuments.
With the advancement of modern technology, glass painting has become a more sophisticated kind of art throughout the years. However, the artist's high level of precision and talent is required for this kind of painting, as is shown in the models that highlight his artistic mastery and originality.
The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) is dedicated to encouraging cultural awareness through these exhibitions, enriching the State of Qatar's cultural landscape, and providing opportunities for individuals to experience diverse cultures from across the world.
