Karnataka Sangha Qatar and ICC Celebrate Engineer's Day
Karnataka Sangha Qatar, in collaboration with the Indian Cultural Center (ICC), celebrated Engineer's Day on Sunday, September 15, 2024, in tribute to the legendary Indian engineer and statesman, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, marking his 163rd birth anniversary. The event took place at Ashoka Hall, ICC.
His Excellency Vipul, the Indian Ambassador to Qatar, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The celebration featured technical presentations and a series of felicitation ceremonies, including the prestigious “Abhiyantarasri” title awarded to Mr. Subramanya Hebbagelu, Vice President of the ICC.
Karnataka Sangha Qatar honored Mr. Hebbagelu for his exemplary professional accomplishments as an engineer, his significant contributions to society, and his dedication to social service. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Hebbagelu expressed gratitude to the president and members of Karnataka Sangha Qatar, acknowledging the community’s role in his journey since he arrived in Qatar 17 years ago.
“When I first came to Qatar, I knew only a few colleagues. Today, I am fortunate to be surrounded by a large circle of friends and community leaders,” he said. Mr. Hebbagelu, who currently works as a QA/QC engineer and project coordinator at Galfar Al Misnad, shared his passion for serving the community, stating that his motivation stems from helping those in need and uplifting the helpless.
Engineer’s Day, celebrated annually on September 15, honors the contributions of engineers to society and recognizes the legacy of Sir M. Visvesvaraya, a symbol of technical brilliance and public service in India.
