TO add my 2 cents, I have run vista on in every manner of native (regular) and virtual (VM ware, Virtual PC, ETC) since black beta versions and RC1 was released.
Vista runs fine in all cases provided you have plenty of ram. Recommend at least 2 gigs for native or and extra 2 gigs for virtual (ie 2.5 and give .5 to XP)
Easiest is native. Just stick the disk in your XP box and follow the prompts for a duel boot, but i don;t see any advantage over Xp-2003/ or 2000 for that matter other than driver support. Recommend you stick with the OS that came with your computer unless you are a geek like me.
If you do go ahead with it feel free to pm me if you hit any snags.
virtual PC is just like you are partioning your computer resources between the guest operating (runing inside vertual PC) system and the host operating system (the one you install virtual Pc on it)
IF you dont have enough memeory i would recommend dual booting instead where you can partition your hard Disk into two drives then start installing XP on C drive and after that you install Vista on the second drive.
so far virtual PC can run on vista with no issues, but configuration and etc are not so easy if you have'nt done before.
Are you using two hard drives to do it ? Or do you want Xp and Visata on the same hard drive, so that when the PC boots up, you select which operating system to use?
It will tell you in great detail the exact stepsyou need to do. Its a really simple thing.
However if you are wanting windows XP just for small things.
You could setup a virtual PC on your machine which allows you to run Windows XP session while using windows vista, its like an emulator.
Just google " Virtual PC" , its free from microsoft, download it, and then install windows XP onto it normally if you need a hand with that just let one of us know and we will help you out with it.

Thanks for both link on Dual boot Vista/XP and the Virtual PC suggestion.
I got a doubt. I'm definitely new to Vista, but that Virtual PC will be of help when Vista began to raise problems.
