IT fiends - HELP!
I have a HP Pavilliondv6700, Intel (R) core(TM)duo CPU T9300 @2.50GHz, 2GHz - 4.00GB Ram. It is 2 years old.
My problem is that it dies (totally switches everything off, power, the works) on me many times a day, specially when I am online. I have 3 fans underneath it as it heats up way too much. Have taken it many times to the clinic but there is nothing they can do. I use the cleaner & have security AVG on it. Apparently because it has Vista this dying happens, so I have been told.
Now do any of you have a suggestion on what I can do to fix this problem.
Should/can I delete Vista and install a different operating system?
Anything else?
Or should I throw it away and get an Apple?
Please....I am so fed up
Thanks for all the advise. I tried reformatting, my laptop has never been outside, tried everything. I think my best bet is to start saving for a Mac.
Are you sure, your system is switch off when you are online?..to make sure this please do some works in your sysrem while you are in offline mode....
CONSULT WITH A HIGH EXPERIENCED TECHNICIAN.I THINK PREFEREBLY HE IS AN INDIAN
My advice - Buy an apple.... once you Mac you won't go back... They just work, no problems.... I had laptop after laptop with windows, the new ones start with problems within 1 month if not before, I have had absolutely no problems with my Mac... and it's cheaper to buy one Mac than to have to replace your windows computer every year or so...
I have not seen or experienced windows 7 yet so cannot say it is or isn't good... try the reformatting solution, (with XP or 7 not vista) that should buy you time to get opinions on windows 7 before investing in a new computer...

Format your pc. If you still have originl configuration as set by the factory, you can bring it back to its original form. goto hp site and find out the steps needed to restore your system. Pls note, you will loose your data using this option so might as well do a backup before you perform this activity.
most probably, your system is infected with a bug which is causing alot of processes to run which is causing vista to take preventive measure and shutting it down.
aisha as my idea the problem with ur laptop is not recover able bcz as i think ur motherboard or processor get heated may due to u pot or forget it on ur car or such in striaght sunlight or in warm area tht is main coz of this happening..........
I am facing a similar problem with my Dell Inspiron 1525
if you think the intermittent shutdown happens because of vista, try installing windows xp or windows 7 if the re-installation does not solve issue there is a problem with your laptop consider buying new one or switch to apple :-) (excuse my english)
