Free download will not work, you must buy instead. But if your credit card have already been registered there might be some free ebook you can download from their site (B&N, amazon). Or you can find in the internet, there are some free site giving good books. By the way, downloading a book using kindle or nook is a little bit scratching your head, better to download books using your pc/laptop and upload it into your reader device using calibre.

Anyway, Calibre is a good tool to organize your .pdf or if you want to convert any reading file you want to .EPUB or Mobi and download it into your kindle or Nook.

I have 2 pcs excessive NOOK-1 bought from US ( I have 4 actually, but 1 is for me and 1 for my friend) , manufacturer refurbished direct from Barnes and Noble, everythings new and still sealed certified pre-owned.and will have your name registered in B&N once you register your device thru wi-fi. retail B&N price is 119US$ and new B&N will be around 149US$ Exclude shipping to Qatar. I have a nook simple ebook reader - I can download books from B&N once I link my nook with my credit card. I can also lend my purchased book to another nook owner.

I am using one. 3G does not work, but you can download books wirelessly. Also, there is a software called calibre which convert anty pdf books to kindle mobi format. 

I don't use Kindle, but I do read novels using either my iPod Touch or iPad. If any of you needs any latest novel by any author, just send me a PM and I'll see what I can do. Keep reading everyone!

Yes, got a kidnel ebook reader, and it works great.  Also uses kindle for Ipad, Iphone, Android, Windows mobile and the software works great on every platform.  I do not purchase any hard copy books any more.
