missing something in job search

I am well qualified and experienced IT person, came to Doha 2 months ago. I have been responding to many ads about getting suitable job in doha but NOT A SINGLE CALL OF INTERVIEW has happened.
In USA, headhunters call me all the time. they hunt me down even when I am not looking for work.
I don't know if I am doing anything wrong.
responding to ad, talking with people nothing seems to work.
I even have a visa thru my spouse and a driver lic.

frustrated enough to go back to USA.

Any advice?

I know exactly what you mean Sonia. I dont even have a degree, but I have experience and in the U.S I never had a problem getting a job. But here, its another story. I have gone on many interviews, and not one call back. And the recruitment agencies would each only send me on 1 interview, and they will not even try to get me another. I dont understand the system here. But I am still searching because I really like it here, and would like to make it my second home. In your case, you seem to be highly qualified in your field, I would also suggest modifying your resume and making cold calls to companies and ask if theyre hiring even if they are not advertising vacancies.

Hello,

Sorry to hear about your frustration.

I have two cents for you: I am guessing, you need to modify your resume little bit.when I applied for a Job in Qatar, after my first telephone interview I was asked to submit another resume with some modification, where added project level details - budget, total workforce, my role, technology, and extact time frame. I do not even know why my resume was picked up that time just one week after applying for the job. We just hired a DB architect from Canada in our section.

Did you try http://www.qp.com.qa/qp.nsf

Good luck.

Cheers
