Mozaic TV

I've read some of the previous answers to queris on Mozaic tv. however since most of the queries are quite dated; I thought best to bring this discussion up again;

Assuming the basic Qrs. 250 subscription is what we opt for;

1. How is the internet quality, if we have all the three services enabled simultaneously, would we get a minimum 1 mb download speed?

2. If we do not enable the tv service and use the landline and internet only, will there be a discernable difference in the internet speed.

3. The wifi router that comes with the service, is it only wifi enabled or can we use ethernet(wired) ports on the router to connect to other peripherals.

4. What are the basic tv packages, anything worth watching (english)

5. How is the quality of the T.V, I wouldnt expect it to be 1080 or even 720... 480 perhaps?

6. What are the initial setup charges if any?

Any feedback from existing users would be greatly appreciated.

Rgds,

J.J

Here are answers to your questions based on my experience with Mozaic TV.

1. Assuming that you are using only the internet, minimum download speed is 1MB. If you're tv is switched on, internet speed will more or less 800kbps. As I am writing these now and with my tv switched off, my download speed is 1.27MB.

2. The WiFi router that comes has 4 ports on it. 3 of those ports can be connected to a computer. Another port is purely dedicated to Mozaic. The WiFi router is connected to the Mozaic receiver thru ethernet cable. So, if you're planning to get the service, and you want your internet connection on one room and your tv is on another room, purchase a long ethernet cable because Q-Tel gave me one that is less than 2mtrs long.

3. There are so many packages to choose from. The basic channels includes either the Asian Package or Arabian Package. Of course, you have to choose the Asian Package if you prefer English channels. You can visit www.qtel.com.qa for the complete list of all the channels, their packages and their prices.

4. TV quality is quite clear compared to satellite tv channels.

5. I got my Mozaic connection for free and all channels are free as well for 2 months. Check with Qtel's customer representative if there is an on-going promotion.
