Setup second router on Qtel
By akthar2007 •
Dear Friends,
I have a router setup at my villa & the wifi from Qtel huawei router is not reaching my room. I want to extend this using an old Qtel Huawei router which I have, through an Ethernet cable to my room. I want to setup a second router. Could any one help me how to do this? Any clarifications on the situation, please reply to me on this post.
Regards,
Javed.

The second router model if it is HG655B it will not support wifi feature but other models(Thomson etc.) it is possible.
You can make 2nd qtel router as an access point through some config..
Qtel/Ooredoo devices are flashed with their own firmware. If this device has a Logo of Qtel/Ooredoo, then it is definitely used as a primary modem or modem/router combination in a Qtel/Ooredoo connection. Which means it cannot act as a bridged device to extend your network. There are lots of devices available in the market which can extend your network but do not buy a modem/router combination.
Dear da-ruru,
thanks for your comment. So, I cannot use this router unless I have a DSL/WAN line from Ooredoo? Can I use other brand routers for the extension? will it work? wat is the best solution?

That modem is only useful as a Ooredoo Modem/Router. It was flashed to work only on Ooredoo connection. It can be used as a MODEM ONLY device but not a ROUTER ONLY device.
No.. I wanted to use the router which I have to save costs..
Yes, its possible....Use a Range Extender ...Qr359 - Cisco -
