Lenovo/IBM, Acer, HP/Compaq, Dell are good brands. Almost all are made in china. All internal components like processor, motherboard, ram, display etc used in them are same. Easy to find spares and service center.
@Thelonius: I'll keep that in mind. I need to get one now because I have no entertainment whatsoever in my room and Im just renting on bedspace. Limited space (for desktop PC) and mobility. So this one suits my situation. And as far as I know, things will last longer if you know how to do preventive maintenance.
@MM: yeah, that's what im planning to do also when I get a new one, after 4 or 5 years, khallas, I'll sell it. Maybe after a couple of years, I can upgrade it myself then sell it again...
Gera .... Stacey has given a detailed info ..... For me .......... base it at the mediumly priced piece ....... Just plan to use that for 5 years or so ........ after that todays technology will need replacement ...... either due to maintenance or upgrading etc .........
I would go for ASUS - they relatively cheaper and works the same. I had XPS Dell before and it only lasted a year before it went BSOD on me. I would stay away from Dell unless I've been proven otherwise.
Currently, I have MSI Dragon but then I rather think of it as a portable desktop than a laptop. So, unless you are a hardcore gamer that travels a lot, I would skip that one but MSI produces one of the best motherboard out there in the market, so keep that in mind when selecting your Laptop.
@Thelonius: I am very aware of that and yes I cannot agree more. But this is just a simple survey for people like me who wants to buy laptop and wants a portable, handy computer that they can bring anytime, anywhere.
