Biryani Diaries: Foodies meetup at Zaffran Dining Experience
Doha foodies and bloggers came together at Zaffran Dining Experience ("ZDE") on a Tuesday evening this November to test and rate the restaurant's biryani during Qatar Biryani Month, organized by Urban Point and Qatar Living.
The group tried their 5 types of biryani: Shrimp, Mutton, Veg, Chicken and Butter Chicken. The favorites were Shrimp and Butter Chicken biryani.
Zaffran Dining Experience specializes in North Indian cuisine called Awadhi, which is the type that India's rulers used to have because of its rich taste, authentic ingredients and careful preparation.
In fact, as owner Nitin Shroff mentioned, ZDE's biryani Chef is the great-grandson of a cook who used to work for the rulers of India some 200+ years ago. As a result, he has special family recipes that have been passed down and perfected over generations.
One common problem people have with Indian cuisine is an acidic stomach or even heart burn because of ingredients used, poor preparation or the method of integrating Indian spices. ZDE's chef and owner were aware of this and developed their dishes to be rich in taste and gentle on the stomach.
ZDE has a special method of infusing spices into the food to keep an authentic Awadhi taste while ensuring that effects on the stomach are positive.

Before Biryani Month ends on November 30th, Doha residents can enjoy a 2-for-1 biryani offer at ZDE using the Urban Point app, and what's more is that they can rate the biryanis inside the app so that the first ever community-rated Best Biryanis can be determined!
