An exquisite evening at Paper Moon Doha
Having heard a lot about Paper Moon Doha restaurant, it had been on our bucket list of must-try restaurants since a while. What turned out to be an interestingly eventful day, wound up delightfully at Paper Moon at Jaidah Square. While trying to decide the best place to have dinner at, Paper Moon simultaneously crossed our minds. Prepped up by this amiable decision mutual to all, we went to the restaurant with high expectations. Suffice to say; those expectations were all justified, if not exceeded by the delicious food and cordial treatment we were given throughout.
While waiting for the food, we took a stroll across the elegant restaurant and stumbled upon a pleasant little surprise. The terrace seating looks like an enchanted setting perfect for cool nights out. It is not open in this season, but will resume from October, when the weather becomes pleasant. It turned out to be a favorite hotspot, especially after we were informed that movies are screened there. It promises to be quite a lively little getaway in cooler months in Qatar, with movies playing amidst fairy lights and delicious food. For the frequent goers, your secret is out; brace yourselves for more company on your movie rendezvous!
Coming back to our seats, we chatted away until our appetizers arrived, which was fairly swiftly. The Insalata Paper Moon was everything it promised to be; healthy, zesty, and tastefully spiky. Melanzane Parmigiana was warm and tangy, and the Mozzarella Ala Caprese (mozzarella with tomato and basil) was so beautifully decorated that my friend didn’t have the heart to spoil its setting by eating it! Eat we did though, and heartily so.
The main courses arrived, which were Chicken Rollatina and Grilled Salmon. Chicken Rollatina, which was chicken roll-up with mozzarella and spinach, served with mushroom sauce and mashed potato won the votes all around. The salmon was delicious, crispy on the outside and juicily tender on the inside.
Throughout our stay, we were well looked after by the staff. Mr Bhiraj Govindoo was a very attentive and courteous host, doubling the pleasant experience of fine dining at Paper Moon.
The desserts were each masterworks in their own territory. The Vanilla Panna Cotta was so light and creamy, it just melted in the mouth, and blended well with the raspberry and forest fruit. The Semifreddo Hazelnuts parfait with espresso coffee was a pleasant surprise of sweet and bitter dessert, perfect for coffee lovers. The showstopper proved to be the Paper Moon Tiramisu.
Paper Moon Doha is definitely a must-visit-again restaurant for its exquisite ambience, excellent service and tasty Italian cuisine.
Will try the terrace in October - Joys
