My quest for the best biryani while trying to stay thin
When I came to Qatar, I was excited to learn of the variety of cuisine on offer. From Indian (my personal favorite) to Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, American and everything else, it was certainly a concern that I'd put on weight with all this great food around on top of the driving, and sitting. But for a year and 6 months, that hadn't happened.
Then, Qatar Living and Urban Point organized Burger Month this past September, and I had more burgers in one month than in the last year. It was well worth the extra 2kgs because I learned about the best burger joints in Doha and saved a ton of money using the Urban Point app as my culinary guide where I would redeem buy-one-get-one burger offers at all the participating burger joints around Qatar. Heaven was cheaper for me that month.
After living on salads in October to shed the extra burger kgs, I'm back in business for this November's Biryani Month, which I simply can't resist. I use the Urban Point app to redeem Buy-One-Biryani-Get-One-Free offers at a ton of restaurants, most of which are in the city center and easy for me to reach for lunch or dinner. Right now, my personal favorites are Grand Gourmet in Wyndham Hotel, Zaffran Dining Experience, and Cuppa Café for when I'm on the go, and I am still on a quest to try out all the participating restaurants!
I'll certainly be rating these biryanis in the app because it's cool that we as a community can rate the best dishes in Qatar. And naturally I'm curious to see who the winners would be. To the folks at Qatar Living and Urban Point, give me at least a month to get back down to 60kgs before you launch anything else. ;)
There's too much good food in this country ☺
