Prince of Persia Restaurant at The Pearl-Qatar
I was invited to the opening event of Prince of Persia Restaurant at The Pearl-Qatar. I was greeted by a cheerful host as soon as I entered and was guided to my table. The restaurant was very well lit and thoughtfully decorated.
The restaurant, divided into an indoor and outdoor layout, had a decent view into the marina and would look fabulous during the day.
There was only a set menu for their opening day for a quite hefty price of QAR 250 per person, but the experience was definitely worth it. Being the grand opening day, guests were lavishly treated with authentic persian drinks and cuisines.
Dinner started with a popular welcoming Persian summer drink, a pomegrante flavored Sharbat. It was not too sweet and was served ice cold, which seemed to quench most of your thirst. Then came the tasters, a cheese-dominated frenzy - sour cheese on cucumber and watermelon. Seemed like a weird combo until I tried it (reminded me of the animation Ratatouille).
Then came the soup - a typical Persian lentil soup with a lemon slice on the side. I am not a big fan of soups, but this one was not bad.
Moving on to the main course, my favorite part, I met the soulmate of my taste buds - kebabs! The kebab was just the best part of the main course - there were three kinds of appetizers, a beef stew fused with lentils and a mixed grill platter.
I could not find anything bad to say about the food itself. It was fresh and my taste buds were ecstatic, and not to mention that I am biased towards grilled cuisines.
The only turn off though was the price - QR 250 seemed like too much to me. Maybe that's because I know can get similar quality food for half the price and not be restricted by a set menu.
All in all, it was a good experience to dine at Prince of Persia Restaurant.
