Iphone 16 GB 3 GS.(3.1.2 )locked

Dear All,
Iphone 16 GB 3 GS.3.1.2 locked while updating with itunes. Now it is on emergency mode.Before I was using that with vodafone and no problem at all. now it is showing 'No services'and emergency calls only. Can any body experiences the same problem?? Cany any body help me out to fix thix this problem? Any shops in doha to fix this? I request to kindly help and share your knowledge
When I connect to itunes it shows
"the sim card inserted in this phone does not appear to valid.only compatible SIM cards from a supprted carrier may used to activate iphone"
