Canon DSLR Camera Rebel T1i (EOS 500D)

I have one canon dslr camera. when i insert the memory card in the camera and try to take picture. Following error appears on the screen , " Card is write protected" I put the card small button to unlock but still receiving the same message and i am unable to take any picture. Anybody know what is the issue. What should i do? Thanks
