The Filipino Spirit is Water Proof
Shring this recent praise and comment from CNN regarding the typhoon "Haiyan" (Yolanda):
"Time to get to know the hardy Filipino people...unbelievably resilient, long suffering, good natured, uber friendly, loyal, ingenius and a bunch of survivors.
At the end of the day the Filipinos will just shake off the dirt from their clothes and thongs and go about their business...and SMILE. They do not complain much, they will bear as long as they can.
Maybe this is why they were given the "privilege" of bearing the burden of the strongest typhoon ever recorded.
The indomitable human spirit at its finest."
Even if you don't have any compassion for how people have suffered, why log in to the thread to be nasty? It's one thing to ignore the suffering of others, but it's far worse to be cruel and nasty about it.
I just don't understand why some people are like that.
Galinda.. Nah, I didn't think you were the one being accusatory here. I too wish people would be more compassionate towards the suffering of other's. The lack of feeling another's pain is among the reason we see much turmoil in this world!
the comment is from someone named dudesk001. i hate that it went viral without him/her being credited properly.
my maternal grandparents were from leyte and we still have distant relatives there, only been there once but i don't really know anyone from there anymore. the pictures on the devastation available do look heartbreaking. people i know who have family there cannot contact anyone. i understand how crazy that feels when i couldn't contact my family when ondoy struck several years ago..

Fatimah I hope you don't think I believe Janey is nasty. I was referring to someone else, whose horrible comments have now been removed.
My prayers are with the Filipino people who have lost their homes and loved ones.
@Fatimah: thank you :)
@Fatimah: thank you :)
Aww thanks dear.. In Sha Allah :)
Will call ya soon.
Janneeyy: You and nasty? Impossible! I totally feel ya hon. May Allah replace all you lost with better.. Aameen!
No no, i am sorry, i was the one nasty. I just lost something, unlike others, they've lost someone.
Thanks Fathimah.
A very touching yet inspiring post. My heart goes out to all those affected..May God's mercy and blessings descend on them in abundance.
Indeed in another's misfortune is a trial for us all. How we react to another's plight truly reflects our character. My dear sister Janneeyy, truly my prayers are with your family. In Sha Allah all will be well again.
gerarra: Well said. Your advises are most appreciated.
Thanks for the welcome and compliments
Thanks for the welcome..
@mariaelizabeth: Welcome madam! and Good Morning to you! :)
Don't worry Janey, those people with a heart and a soul are with you.
It's only those selfish people who don't have a thought for others who would post that sort of thing on a thread.
You would think if they didn't care about the suffering of the Filipinos, they would just skip to the next thread. But instead they have to log in and post a nasty comment. What a nasty heart they have.
@mariaelizabeth: Welcome..!
It is always uplifting being appreciated by others and knowing that there are some others who cares, needed to hear these words really. Thanks for posting. My good wishes to all my Kababayans and a very pleasant morning to you all fellow QLers. And yes, I am new here, been an old member but new to this blogging stuff and sorts here.
Nature does not look for the "privileged" to show its awesome power. Remember the Tsunami, earthquake in Pakistan and Hurricane Katrina in the USA.
Yeah, Filipinos are hard as rock and very good in doing almost every things. But you know it's good to complain sometimes. Filipinos must learn how to do it also.
Oh okay. I am very sorry to hear that. Hope your family back home is fine and they are out of harms way.
Gerarra, i am not from Visayas, I am from Northern Luzon. The wind is just so strong it plucks out all the crops from the soil. The rice fields are totally flat, you can't harvest anything.
There is rainbow always after the rain.. Thanks Yasir.
@yasir: YOU GOT ME! :p
@janneeyy: it's okay. I understand where you're coming from. by the way, you from Visayas region, saang probinsya ka kabayan? (from what province you are?). Everyone is included in my prayers :)
@janneyy: ohhhh so sad... :( Don't worry janneyy everything will be fine soon....
