Pet animals and birds look for help

It’s a long and never-ending debate whether animals should be kept in a zoo or not but to be true enough I was really sad to see caged animals and pets at the Iranian market here in Doha.

I am not at all complaining about the condition they live in here, but it is in general that why do we need to take away their independent lives?

Though there have been numerous successful examples of breeding highly-endangered animals like Spix’s Macaws and Arabian Orynx in captivity, but who was responsible for their near extinction?

Imagine beautiful birds like pigeons, doves, hawks, macaws, parrots and ducks etc. have been deprived of their natural habitats and are forced to live in small cages of their size.

National parks and reserves are at least better compared to small zoological parks, but these pet and birds market are torture.

I think it’s high time that we should forget of keeping them as pets because that will save these beautiful birds and animals of being brought to such small cages for sale.

I was working with Salaam Studios and Stores,Muscat in 2000.There behind the showroom there was a small pet shop ad it was so well organized. It was totally air conditoned for bird cats dogs.Tan again one more pet shop was there in CCC mall and again it was more than well organized again and not a single smell of animal things. Why cant they do it here...

THATS THE DOHA ZOO???!!! I thought that was the livestock market.  No wonder that meat was so tough.

I think zoo's are fine as long as they are well equipped and spacious enough for the animals.  The zoo in Al Ain in the UAE is a beautiful example, very spacious and well equipped.  The one in Doha is a prime example of an AWFUL zoo.

They also keep refugees in camps. Why not endangered species?
