If you are boycotting for your own conscience, then good for you. That's what I have chosen to do, and, no, I don't think it will affect the mall's profit margin.
But I agree with no merci, I seriously doubt the other malls are much safer. Although I have hear from reliable sources that the both Landmark and Hyatt were built to a better standard, and the layout and size is better for evacuation. But whether or not codes have been followed since construction is anyone's guess.
Why do people want to go back and shop at Villagio when no one knows if the place is even safe yet - there is just a presumption on everyone's part that because the doors are open it must be ok?
Well we all thought that because Villagio was a big fancy mall that they should have had sprinklers and fire alarms that actually worked, fire exits that weren't locked and staff that knew what to do in an emergency - how wrong we all were.
So many innocent children and adults died that horrible day - should that not serve as a warning to everyone else to actually MAKE SURE it is safe to go there again by waiting for an offical report or statement saying everything now meets international safety standards?
The people who are chomping at the bit to get back in there again are more stupid than I would have thought possible.
It's personal choice if people choose to go back and shop in the Villaggio..It doesn't make them bad people..The fire will never be forgotten and those who lost their lives always remembered.
what about so many people working there and their dependents back home in their respective countries.
If the authorities have made alternate work place for all those employed in villagio, it is acceptable, if not by boycotting again thousands of people are affected for their surrivival.
with all my respect for all called for Glory in tragic accident,Let all the parents, friends, relatives have big heart in forgiving the people who work in different places for "NO FAULT OF THE EMPLOYEES & EMPLOYERS" but for some irresponsible people in their responsibilities.
Does anyone know anything about what action was taken against those who neglected every aspect of safety in this place ?
Perhaps they got away .....public memory is any way short.
One thing is true, the parents will die thousand deaths everyday by the memory and the least we can do is show our solidarity. May God bless them and comfort them.

Kiwis, do you really think that it is safer to go to any other mall in Qatar?

This is a very personal issue and we all have to make our own decisions in this regard.
Fully agree with Brin.

This was the faultof the mall, the energy there is not going to be positive.
So all of you, go back to your shopping.... enjoy.
