i got this email

VERY IMPORTANT!!!

This is just a forward message… Take Care. I would like to share the experience of my friends in ASPIRE Park near Villagio. Sunday evening we decided to go in Aspire Park. When we sat on one of the trees there, 11pm we decided to go home, the following day we heard that
our friend was confined on the Hamad Hospital. According to her, she was bitten
by an ant in the feet, on first she ignore it but later on she noticed that there is a
little lump growing on her skin and it grows later on her whole body. Then she has
trouble in breathing, her blood pressure also rises that’s why she was rushed to
the Hospital then the doctor injected her medicine and the two of those are for anti
-poison. After the medication she told the doctor what happened, then we are
shocked that the doctor told us that there are a lot of same cases happened here.
She was lucky that they bring her right away in the hospital coz that bite can kill.. The
Ant that kind according the doctor is poisonous and can kill a person within 24 hours.
And also the doctor informed us that kind of ant can be seen anywhere in Qatar.. the
people should be caution and vigilant so we can avoid any injuries or death..

I am sure that your friend is allergic to ant sting. PPl who are allergic can die if they are stung by an ant or a bee others don't need to worry.

I read this forum last year also. Anyway, there is one kind black ants in my house, which moves so fast. My children were crying too much when this ant bite them. Yesterday it bite me too. Its so painfull and still now i have that pain in my foot. Do anyone have any idea to kill these ants easily and in a scientific way....it will be very helpful. The ant in the picture and the ant in my house is entirely different. Its black, thin...

However in 2009 (yes 2009) the same note was posted here in QL

http://www.qatarliving.com/node/527730

And by that time some arguments were shown in the open forum.

Nevertheless it was said (but not confirmed) by the "end of the discussion" that this info could be what you call a Hoax.

Also note there is another link posted referring to HMC page in which Allergy to Black Ants Sting information is presented publicly to the users.

http://www.hmc.org.qa/mejem/sept2001/origsty/os2.htm

Regards!!

Aspire Park to be retained without much crowd. That is the reason of such mails. Take it only as a propaganda.

Or perhaps you mean "aunt" ;)

The key here is having an allergic reaction (like some people have to bee stings)). Suggesting Qatar dump more pesticides or people stay away from Aspire is just more hype and drama on qatarliving.

You r right, some ant bites cause severe allergic reactions in some..and its relatively more common here ..

We see quite a few of those regularly .. so i guess it pays to take care !!!
