Do you think those men should get arrested? Or have you had any bad/good experience with one?

I feel Qatar is left behind compared to all other GCC nations when it comes to developing its transport system. Its extremly difficult to find taxis in Doha - when you need them urgently. Although lot of measures are being taken recently by the authorities to improve the situation but it is still the same as far as new comers - to Qatar are concerned without a driving license.

One month before CID arrest one of my friend who was using his private car as a taxi in evening time in Doha...Now Karwa drivers will ask more money than before ...now they know thay poor people have no more option than Karwa taxi...we come from Doha to Alkhor in day time karwa drivers ask for 10 QR per person but if when we come after 9 pm they ask for 20 to 25 QR per person..

Of course people will use illegal taxis here. Since when does illegal matter if it suits the situation?

Illegal ONLY matters if it does not pose a disadvantage to the person.

At least that seems to be the case with most people here.

Opinion

They Are illegal, A lot of people are getting into this business as the income earned is around 5,000 to 6,000 more or less .Earning is more rather than they working for a company , few do it as part time income they charge more than karwa at times & are minting lot of money

i did not get in any illegal cab with a rude driver,..

but i did get in several of karwa cabs with rude drivers

illegal most of the time same or better rate than karwa with a way better service

like back home,.most cabs are private owned and operated but controlled over a dispatch company,.so the take care of there cars clean on in and outside and the are not rude because you are not going to call them again and then the loose bussines

It's illegal...its the driver and owner of the car responsibility if caught, with penalty 3,000 Qr and car be impounded 1 month and 20 qr rental per day at the impounding area..not bad for the risk been taken by car lift...they want to earn a little bit extra with a price if caught.

if its illegal, then its illegal!

Moreover if they charge more than the stipulated rates then its absurd!!

they should be reported to the authorities so that the illegal activity can be checked!

Sorry for sounding rude but rules are rules!

They are charging more than the legal taxi drivers. These illegal drivers have regular jobs and this is just extra income for them for this reason they should charge at reasonable rates and not more than what Karwa is charging.

Karwa taxi and even the new company Millenium if im not mistaken are having the worst service as i experience, most of them insist not to use receipt and act like a private taxi, every time i tried to book for Karwa they will tell you after 5 hours only it will be available..5 hours??? Yes 5 hours and even worst they will tell you NO MORE AVAILABLE!

They are very helpful and should not get arrested as the Karwa service is really very bad. My father's medicines was ongo. He is the heart patient, i booked Karwa one day before, Even it didn't reached on time the other day. And me and my husband stood on the road for about one hour, NO KARWA taxiz stopped, only a man with the normal car stopped and helped us out. They are the body of Qatar of those who needs helpfull drive certain situations.

Thanks

Well until there is Sufficient Public Transport specially Karwa Taxis, these So Called Private Taxis would be on the street of Qatar, even though these Private Taxis are Illegal...
