Events lined up in Ramadan 2022
Ramadan 2022 is finally here and a lot better and more normal than the last two years of Ramadan, ever since the global pandemic started. With things looking brighter, families in Qatar are now able to spend more time outdoors with their loved ones and are also more open to the idea of socializing with others. The weather is as pleasant as it can be this time of the year, and there’s no dearth of activities for everyone to participate in.
We’ve shared a list of activities that you and your families can participate in the Holy Month. Here they are:
Qatar Foundation’s events & activities
Qatar Foundation (QF) is organizing a series of in-person and virtual activities that the entire community can participate in and these are intended to foster social interaction and inculcate knowledge too.
Islamic Information Challenge
Organized by Qatar National Library, this is an online challenge to test children’s awareness of Islam and their research skills. The winner will be announced in May and special Library gifts will be awarded. Register here
Suitable for: Children aged 9-14

Ramadan Challenges: Quizzes for young adults:
Another set of weekly challenges is organized by QNL where the sessions are conducted online via Instagram. A new challenge awaits every week on their Instagram.

Bon Appetit
Join an Instagram live where there is a cooking demonstration with Rasha Esbeetan and Momeena Salaheldin. The demonstration will show you how to wrap and prepare sambousek in different flavors. The IG live will be held here.

Qatar Running Series Track Challenge
To be held at Oxygen Park, the Ramadan running challenge will feature a series of time races held for 15, 30, and 45 minutes each, with every event having a 250 participants capacity limit. Register here.
Suitable for: Kids aged 7 and above and all adults
Dates: April 7-20| 8.30 pm onwards
Tickets: QAR 60 for juniors (7-15) and QAR 120 for adults
Night of Garangao
The most favorite festive tradition among children, QNL will commemorate Garangao with a session on how to prepare Garangao treats such as nuts, sweets, and treats. Watch the session on their Instagram live here.

Manuscript Studies Lecture Series – Studying Qur’anic Manuscripts
Organized by QNL and the Center for Manuscript Studies at Fatih Sultan Mehmed Waqf University, Turkey, these lecture series discuss manuscript studies and Islamic manuscript culture. The lecture will be delivered by Mahmoud Zaki, the manuscript librarian at QNL through zoom and also on the library’s Youtube channel. Register here for the Zoom link.

Cookbooks to Inspire Your Ramadan Recipes
This session gives guidance on how to find cookbooks at QNL that will help you choose delicious Ramadan recipes. The session will happen on QNL’s Instagram live.

Ramadan Cultural Nights
A nightly activity that is open to the public and creates a platform to learn about the local culture and Ramadan. This includes workshops, performances, cultural activities, exhibitions, and a Garangao celebration—all held at Oxygen Park throughout the week.

Katara Cultural Village Foundation activities
The Cultural Village Foundation of Katara has also lined up quite a diverse array of activities for different age groups and audience. These constitute of religious, cultural, literary, sports, and social events.
Suftaan Katara campaign
The campaign provides humanitarian aid to families who are poor and needy. Spaces in the southern side of Katara have been assigned for productive families to display their products.
Lectures at Katara Mosque
In association with the Ministry of Awqaf and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Center, the Katara Mosque is set to host a series of lectures after Taraweeh prayers.
Mahaseel Market
On the south side of Katara, the Mahaseel or Crop Market will continue to operate daily during the whole month from 8 pm till 12 am. People can shop for fresh local produce of fruits and vegetables, milk, dates, sheep meat, poultry, eggs, and natural honey.
Katara Ramadan Chess Open 2022
In cooperation with Qatar Chess Federation, Katara has organized the Katara Ramadan Chess Open 2022 at Katara Hall, Building 15. The competition runs from April 7-14 at 9 pm. Registrations can be done here.
Quran Memorization program
The memorization of the Holy Quran is being encouraged among the younger generation through this program. The program will be held from April 5-21, at the Katara Masjid for boys and Golden Mosque for girls after Asr prayer daily.
Ramadan Nights in literature and culture
This festivity includes cultural and literary activities dedicated to prominent writers, novelists, storytellers, and poets from Arab countries. There are several art workshops too to be held in Arabic calligraphy and plastic art for children in Buildings 18 and 19.
Apart from these, you can also witness the:

- Al Mashar event
- Food street kiosks that are open from 8 pm till 2.30 am
Torba Farmer’s Market (Ramadan Edition)
The regular weekly Torba Farmer’s Market just got a touch of Ramadan to it. The next market is to be held at Education City on April 9, from 7 pm to 1 am.
Lusail International Shooting Complex
The Lusail Shooting Range is hosting several sports and entertainment activities for the month of Ramadan, in addition to archery at the Al Ramii Sports Club.

National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ)’s Ramadan activities
NMoQ is inviting the community members to engage in its line-up of activities for this Holy Month. These include:
Islam’s Influence on the Heritage, Culture and Architecture of Qatar
The Coming of Oil Gallery at NMoQ
Community members can learn about the influence of Islam in the Arabian peninsula, along with its impact on Qatari culture, traditions, architecture, and cultural festivities.

Family Saturday - “A Story of Qatari Coffee”
Learning Studio at NMoQ
Participants can learn about the rich history of Arabic coffee, it’s origin, and the ritual behind Arabic coffee. The participants also get to decorate a custom cup of coffee at the end of the session.

Al Zubarah Qur’an Manuscript Tour and Workshop
Life on the Coast Gallery at NMoQ and Learning Studio
Participants will get to learn more about the Zubarah Qur’an which is one of the oldest Qur’anic manuscripts. A calligrapher will guide participants on understanding calligraphy and be inspired to create personalized artworks by the artist.

Baraha Classic Car Exhibition
A collection of 16 rare and beautiful classic cars will be on display at Msheirib Downtown Doha in collaboration with Gulf Qatari Classic Cars Association. Films and photographs of classic cars will also be on display.

The Ministry of Culture has announced the first edition of the Ramadan Book Fair 2022 that will feature books from 35 authors Books that cover Islamic culture and teachings will be available in English and Arabic.

Ramadan Lantern Activity—Ezdan Mall, Wakrah
Everyday from 8-11 pm, Ezdan Mall, Wakrah, is hosting a Ramadan lantern activity for kids.
