Places for women to read Taraweeh in Qatar
Two years post-pandemic and things are slowly inching back towards normal. With Ramadan 2022 already here, there’s a new excitement and zeal to make the most of this year’s Holy month. A recent development by the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has announced that all mosques and their female prayer areas are permitted to open for Ramadan. Many worshippers are already making elaborate plans to head to their favorite mosque with family and make the most of the nightly Isha Taraweeh prayers. Not wanting to miss out on the congregational prayer, women are also anticipating frequent visits to the mosque to partake in the spirit of this month. While nearly every mosque has a female praying area, there are some masjids that really stand out owing to their ease of access, convenience, and spacious praying areas for women.
Here is a list of mosques we have compiled where women can read Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan:
EC Mosque
Based in the Minaratein complex in Education City, the EC mosque is a hub for many students and residents living around the area. The mosque’s beautiful unconventional design makes for a lovely place to congregate and read the Taraweeh prayers.
The womens’ ablutions and prayer areas are wide and spacious, enough to accommodate the worshipper. Additionally, the women’s area also features a separate seating area with comfortable chairs and tables where you can read the Holy Quran and other religious texts.

Imam Abdul Wahab Mosque (State Grand Mosque)
Undoubtedly one of the most popular mosques loved by the public, the Imam Abdul Wahab Mosque in downtown Doha is a good place to head with your family for the nightly congregation prayers. While the men’s area is quite obviously big, the women’s area is expected to host nearly 1,200 worshippers at a time. The mosque also features ablution areas for people with special needs, so that is an additional convenience.

Katara Mosque
Designed by a Turkish mosque architect, the Katara mosque is extremely beautiful and features mosaic tiles on the interior. While the women’s prayer area is indeed very good, the space is a tad bit smaller as compared to other masjids. However, if you are around Katara post-iftar, this mosque would be ideal to head for your Isha prayer with the family.

The female prayer area on the first floor is also quite spacious and can easily accommodate a large number of female worshippers.
