50-hr driving lessons must for licence
DOHA: The Traffic Department will begin closely monitoring automobile repair facilities (garages), driving schools, rent-a-car companies and car showrooms in the country from August 1.
A set of regulations was issued last year empowering the traffic authorities to actively supervise the above facilities and streamline their activities, but the rules were to be enforced from August 31 this year.
The new rules would imply that from August 1, everyone learning driving at a school will have to compulsorily attend at least 15 hours of theory classes and take a minimum of 35 hours of driving lessons to be able to appear for the test to obtain a driver’s license, for instance.

even one takes 50 hours of driving lesson, who dont know how to drive, cant drive at all. Traffic dept. observation is sharp regarding as the situation is ongoing, not a single day when i dont see any accident on doha streets, while leaving for office in the morning.
50 Hours lessons? Unfortunately, genuine drivers from third world will suffer.
if it will make a difference!
Great plan in theory, but I am guessing it practice there will be more than a little shall we say 'variance' in the application of the law.
Does (Old) driving schools really teach before the instructor is given a gift ?
Has anyone experienced this ?
Well, maybe they should also consider to hire teachers who actually teach how to drive properly.
A shake up is LONG overdue.
Finally .. some form of formality when it comes to driving lessons. I remember when I was learning yeaaarrs ago, when I was 17, and after my 9th lesson they said I'm good to go for my exam - however my parents flipped at the time and made me take all lol
