I do have experience with the fresh water tanks.

Cichlid fishs are colorful as sea water fishes are.

It is easy to care, but it is not comman in Doha, it is available, but not that much.

If you want, I could send you some pictures on ur personnal e-mail for my fishes.

on fish. If you are satisfied with the ordinary fresh water fishes commonly taken care of by many hobbyist, go for the fresh water tank ( and easier to maintain). But if you fancy exotic and very colorful fishes, go for the salt water tank. But of course a little bit harder to maintain and the fishes are expensive

I do have two huge aquariums(fresh water) with cichlid type, Malawi, Tanganita lakes.

I got alot of babies from my fishes, so I am ready to help.

If you have GOLD FISH,...the water very easy to contaminate with AMONIA (couse OVER FEEDS).

And also FEEDING.

Dont feeds you fish like our daily diet.

Feed 1 time per days, and dont let spoiled your aquuarium. the remain food will degradated became amonia and will toxic to your fishes.

Can you imagine they berath with own urine?.......

In Qatar, we can use biological filtration system for marine aquarium. Metal Halide, if just fish only, I dont think is mandatory to have.

I sugest you to use tube with the code 865. for example philips 865, that would be enough for fish only.

For corals spesially stonny corals, your tank size will be very full of attached equipments.

For reducing amonia,.....i just need 2-3 weeks.

BTW,

Have you circulated the aquarium during 2-3 month?

and do you have live rock inside there?

How thick your base sands?

Do you also use skimmer?

How much in daily you top-up the aquarium?

I just arrived back in doha after 5 weeks holiday...

and found out all my fish are gone... so sad...

I have asked my neighbour to give sera holiday fish food every week, but it didn't help. Maybe my house become too hot while no aircon is working during the last 5 weeks..

So sad, I just cleaned my aquarium today... :(

i stay alone.. i also want a fish tank.. but i wonder how much i need to care?? Coz busy work times n all..

btw here we have clean sea water i go to wakrah to harvest sea water for water change salt here is expensive

If you going to Buy this aquarium ..try to buy only 15 gal. tank..underwater filter so that the dirt will go only under the gravel..or If you like to see it bubly try to buy this Overhead Filter that would fits your aqaurium..and also FEED ONLY 2 to 3 times a day ..just small portion so that the water be not be contaminated and the fishes will not be poison.

For New hobbyish be guided that Goldfish 8 fishes and 1 Black Oranda Or Black Moore will bring Goodluck...

the longer u wait the better you ammonia level gets stabilized

btw i have a 50 gallon tank

in a Marine tank patience is a virtue you dont need to stock in too fast as mortality rate will be high

..so your doing is after the mixtured of marine salt and water you are going to wait for the mos(2 or 3) to stablize the water?I think that will be too LONG.....what is the water level salt your preparing?sory i just want to know.i'm very much fasinated abt marine aquarium.Budget wise is a big deal..but i think putting up and waiting for that long is not the proper procedure...Unless you are making one Big Tank?!5,000 gal.

my tank is old normally u have to wait atleast 2 to 3 months but that will depend on you sump design

just after the carpet center in najma, park to the right somewhere and you will see a pet shop on the right which is run by srilankans....

they are really good and will help you out.

Near Carpet Center there is Golden Fish Aquarium Shop (4310304) they will even set it up with Filter, Water pump Air pump and all thats needed but tell them you want undergravel filter this will minimize frequent water changes.

BTW dont go for a small Aquarium go for a medium size its good for the fish to have enough room to swim about
