Beaches and pools in Doha

I arrived in Doha on Sunday, and the kids would love to go to a nice beach (where they can play with buckets and spades) and swim in the sea and/or a pool area. I recall seeing a message about some hotel offering use of their outdoor pool/picnic area without having to pay? Is that right?

If not is there anywhere that we can take the kids to swim and play in the morning? They are really excited as we might have misled them by telling them we'd be living close to the sea (and therefor beach!!)
