children

Will someone tell me why i see small children crawling all over the inside of cars whilst their parents are driving?

A friend of mine works at the hospital and the stories he tells about injured kids on the childrens ward are crazy.

Why dont the parents belt their own children in to the backs of their cars.

Am I missing something here?

I feel sorry for the children, but the parents , come on, this is not good.

I would say sheer negligence and total disregard to child safety....

i think they have never been taught good attitudes/manners/how to behave in public/road/mosque etc....So guilty in the roads.Sometimes beats people who traveles in the roads.

And people in our compound allow their 12- 13 year old sons to drive their land cruisers independently- they seem to take pride in this.

Seeing these occurrences, people of other nationalities are slowly relaxing their guards and letting their sons - 7-8 years olds to reverse their cars, get into their cars and turn the AC on,without adult supervision etc..,- all of which are dangerous in my opinion.

I wonder if there is some department of the police where we can report such truant parents for counselling/warnings.

They do it because they mistrust airbags. Everyone knows kids are way softer then airbags, and when you've got 9 or 10 of them, what's losing 1 or 2?

this morning a local driver came speeding past me with a little girl (maybe 5/6 )in his lap , also holding steering wheel!

i am sure that if this driver was made aware, if they hit the brakes suddenly there is a possibility that their child would hit the windscreen like a bullet,

they would think twice next time

Is there anything us responsible parents can do ,to help all those innoccent children out there just waiting to become another statistic.

we are all human beings together, we love our children ,and we want the safest enviroments possible for them .

What can we do ?

Just keeping children whilst driving at the rear seat do not make them safe, they need to be buckled up. Kids of young age must be secured in a proper baby seat and fastened. The injury due to roll over or sudden impact could be fatal.... Unfortunately the traffic rules are not strictly enforced as intended.

replying to marycatherine's last question. This is a true story: At VCU's first year open house at the end of the presentation a man came up to the Dean and told him "you give too much hard homework, our maid can't keep up".

I disagree with the Inshallah attitude greatly. Do they have regular prenatal checkups? Do they take their children to the doctor if they get ill? Do they abuse the teacher if the child doesn't do his schoolwork (OK maybe not the last one).

God has given them access to car seats and seatbelts (just as He has to medicine and education) - USE THEM

even that "children under 10" law is being flouted as well. you'll see lots of drivers here driving with a small child on their lap.. now, who in their right mind would do that... :/

plain and simple. That and the Inshallah attitude. Also has to do with laws not being enforced and the fact that there is no law that says back seat passengers even have to have seatbelts, much less carseats for children. They have only had a law for a few short years stipulating that children under 10 can not be in the front seat.
