Colds and Flu

Is there a peak season when colds and flu are at their strongest?

Can you generally get all the cold and flu remedies that are available in the UK?

Thanks

If you take medicine, it will cure in a short one week ; otherwise in a long 7 days

ghastly virus here last February, giving me the worst sore throat and cough I've ever had! Took ages to go - paracetemol hardly touched it, and of course nothing with even the slightest bit of codeine is allowed here. I'd say prevention is better if you can - avoid coughing people, snotty kids, keep your immune system healthy - and last but not least keep hands washed and avoid touching eyes, mouth or nose when out shopping or whatever (think of all those germs on the shopping trolley) and give hands a good scrub when you get home. Sounds excessive? - well after last Feb I'd do anything to avoid that lot again.

You can find Tamiflu at the Good Life pharmacy in City Centre. I've some left from my stash during the bird flu scare!

Haddoc, I called HMC and the person who picked it up didn't know anything bout the drive. Maybe she's new (or she simply didn't understand me). How did you find out about the drive? I'm trying to get my baby his 2nd flu shot and I've been waiting since Sept for the vaccine to appear in any of the private clinics. So far they've told me to call and check again in November. Am so worried!

HMC is having a flu vaccination drive. Not sure if its only for HMC staff or outsiders as well. ANyway you could check with someone from HMC and get the vaccine free of course.

People from the Indian subcontinent may not need it as the flu virus cannot survive in them!!! HAHAHA

Tropical countries!!

call Tamiflu back home works wonders at stopping the symptoms of the real flu...but you have to take it every 6 hours or it comes back...sure does help when even your eyelashes hurt when you blink...

There is no such thing as a cold or flu remedy. All of them, yes all of them are nothing more than paracetamol or its equivalent and occasionally some pseudoephidrine which do nothing more than help reduce symptoms and you can do that with any kind of paracetamol. Hot lemon drinks do not help. It is a virus, rest and drink lots.
