Hi Everyone,

Thank you to all who have reached out and shared their opinions and experiences!

Would appreciate your thoughts on life in a compound....is it something you would recommend?  Particularly with young children?  Why/why not?

Thank you!

I agree with the above post for exactly the same reasons.  My girls are out playing for hours and it is very safe. Tons of kids, recreation and acitivites.  I highly recommend living in a compound if you have kids.

We have children age 14 and 10 and decided to live on a compound because we think it is the best choice for them. It is a large compound (more than 200 villas) with very good common facilities and it is secure (A 15ft wall all around and only one gate with security). This means children (even 6 and 7 year olds) are able to come and go with friends, visit each others houses, cycle, skateboard etc. with little danger from traffic or other issues. We allow them more freedom and think it is safer than in our European home country. The other factor is the compounds proximity to their school. For us it is still 15 to 20 minutes drive but that is half the time it would have taken from West Bay Lagoon. The downsides, people on compounds can form cliques, they may be further out from workplaces or the beach, they are less green than West Bay Lagoon for instance. I would choose a large compound to give the children a wide choice of friends and the best facilities. P.S Can't help you with ACS question.
