Cost of having a baby in Doha

Hi,

My husband and I are thinking about starting a family here in Doha, however we are unsure what the hospital charges would be for check up's, scans, delivery etc. Could anyone who has recently had a baby here advise me of what the costs would be please. We do have medical insurance however I do not think it covers for pregnancy.

Thanks :-)

jonno.., having a baby is a wonderful experience. if you should know, here in Qatar you have the option to have consultation at private clinics which usually charge QR150-300 depending on their popularity (believe it or not!). ultrasound will cost you around QR300-600 (either 2D, 3D or 4D). since it was our first, we go to the clinic every month, do ultrasound/sonar every visit as well. it cost me QR600-650 every visit plus vitamins and other medicines especially for gas which will cost not more than QR100.

the other option is to have consultation with Hamad. i think Hamad Health centers are great. they have complete facility. best of all, ITS ALL FOR FREE: laboratory and vitamins. given the chance to bring a life again, I will choose to have my consultation at Hamad and do the ultrasound/Sonar outside.

I would prefer Khudsiya begum as a Private DR. cause she is really good so from the very First month you could lock it at twice a month checkup which should be around Qr 300 a month then during your last month she will refer you to Hamad who are the best in town for deliveries and their rates if you take a private room it will be Qr.800 per day so C-Sec would be 3days normal delivery would be one day .So there you go ready Get set Go

i had my baby last december at womens hospital, that too a c section delivery. it cost me only Qr.100 for room per day and Qr.6 for my medicines. No other charges. But this is only if you have a medical card. so apply for one and you will really get good caring treatment at Womens Hospital..
