Dog friendly beaches in Qatar
I know Qatar is not a very dog-friendly place. But I've heard of people taking their pets to beaches. Could someone please tell me beaches where dogs are allowed? My pet needs to run/swim a lot to avoid hip/joint problems. N I can't find any area where there are not too many people and I can let him out free (off-leash).
So long as you are on the main (largest) beach area, tides are not really a problem so long as your pup is a competent swimmer (doesn't have to be a Labrador but comfortable). When the tide is low or even highish it probably won't be deeper than your waist height. Watch out for jellyfish - not a huge problem for furry creatures but noses and eyes can be stung too.
Thanks Mary! I took my champ to Wakra today n he absolutely LOVED it :) i dint let him out to swim though.. Never know how tides are.. I'll probably check in the next visits before I let him swim there :) Anyway, he had a great time with his frisbee :) He was well behaved, and moved away from people, like someone told him he might scare them.. I was impressed.. LOL
Haha.. I'll try Wakra beach soon :)
They don't leave poop behind.. They dig a hole, poop in it and then cover it up really nice.. Cats are the best..
I take my pup to Wakra about 10 minutes past the airport
Unfortunately there is a group with 6 - 8 dogs (who are all very friendly, both human and dogs) but the humans don't pick up and that will result sooner or later in the dogs being banned.
There is lots of human detritus but being the "superior" species are not considered on the same scale as those who leave poop behind, even if the detritus is mini people poop
Yes Mary! True.. We were planning on that. But our dog is very well behaved and doesn't dirty places than the ones he usually goes to pee/poop. Again, where are these beaches outside of Doha? No place is too far in Qatar considering the size of the country!
Are there any beaches in Doha that friendly (and clean) at all ? with some type of (clean) facilities if any at all ?
off leash is probably best at early hours of the morning, and that means early 0500 to 0630 or 0700 hrs.
It will also help if you are a poop picker upper. Not all dog "lovers" are, including a group that visits a beach on the outskirts of Doha - they think the tide will hide all sins. It doesn't. Just like it doesn't hide the plastic garbage others leave behind.
Any public beaches available are now outside Doha proper so that can mean a bit of a commute.
