Early Elective C-Section

Is it OK to go for an early elective surgery for birth - 37 weeks. No complecation, but doctor says we should go for it as it will be the 3rd cesarean and its not recommended to wait. Internet says otherwise.

Any doctor? How to plan for VBAC and whome to go to?

Any obstetrician in sound mind would never never risk a 'normal' delivery after two previous sections.....def ask for another opinion!!Crazy!!Disgusting that its because of eid holidays, they should be struck off for suggesting such a ridiculous practice!!

If you've had 2 sections, there are more risks involved with a natural birth. At least with an early section things can be controlled properly. I had an emergency section with my first which was a terrifying and very traumatic experience, and so I opted for an elective the sceond time at 38 weeks. Best choice I could ever have made. And 37 weeks is fine.

The reason for an early c-section could be the baby weighing down on the previous stitches or suthin else the doctor might diagonise. The thing about no hospital accepting a c-section at 39 weeks seems weird and false. I guess u shld check with Hamad. Not sure how long b4 u have to take an appointment. But nowadays they started this phone appointment system. Or maybe u can check if they have evening pvt consultations.

It's truly worrying that the doctor has more concerns for their own holiday than the baby's (and yours) health. Please please please arrange for a 2nd opinion, you need to put your mind at rest either way. Best of luck.

you def. do not want to jeopardize your baby because of a holiday and since it is not for medical reasons, don't go for an early c-section. In fact there has been a huge crackdown in early c-sections in the USA because of all the complications they cause for the little one.

I suggest going to Hamad for a check up to get in the system for this pregnancy (easy now you can make an appointment) and they can refer you from there for a c-section. There is no reason Hamad wouldn't take you, it is the main hospital here!

at al ahli. He delivered our daughter by c section about 8 months ago and I know that he is opposed to delivering the baby early without a really good medical reason.

Stick to your guns as it is your body and it seems ridiculous to have a c section early because of the doctors eid plans.

No other reason, but everyone is in hurry because of Eid. We went to see Dr. Rizwi, but we were told that she is not taking any new cases due to her plans for Hajj. We were given an other doctor's appointment and she insisted we go for her proposed elective date. We agreed uncomfortably and planned it for next week. However, when we came back, did some internet searches and almost all credible sources were discouraging to go for it. Spoke to our relation in States (a doctor) and he mentioned that it is the stated position of thousands of the members of American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology to not perform any elective surgery even a single day before 39 weeks until there is an emergency. Have two previous C-sections does not justify an early C-section.

1- Our first child was born full time outside Qatar - c-section.

2- Second child was born in Qatar at Hammad. Though Dr. Rizwi did not perform surgery, she waited almost 41 weeks before she recommended c-section. Child is very healthy and we thank Dr. Rizwi for her expert opinion. This time we could not reach her. Any contact info for her would be highly appreciated?

ONE QUESTION:

We called the subject doctor (NR) at Al-Ahli and requested her to cancel. She did cancel but said no hospital will accept us at 39 week for c-section. To me it’s like harassment. Is it true? Is it my way or the highway?

Any other good doctor at Al-Ahli or Hamad? We are not going for c-section until its 39 weeks (Nov. 26) or God forbit it’s an emergency before that. Any doctor recommendation? Will someone else take us at Al-Ahli or are they all going to stick to each other's opinion?

I would go to a second Dr. as this one does not seem confident in their opinion. It never hurts to get a second opinion especially when your little one could be at risk.

Why is the Dr. saying not to wait? Are they worried you will go into labor before the c-section?

Very dangerous to risk a VBAC after 2 c-sections. Delay the surgery if you think it's best but don't try it naturally.

I definately would not risk VBAC or trial of labour as we call it after 2 cs's......definately not!!

elective CS at 37 weeks is ok because they baby is 'Term', however if there are concerns about weight etc then wait longer, the surgeons advice about doing it early because of 3 previous ones is ridiculous!! Theres no reason if the baby is not a risk why you shouldn't wait longer.....
