Family of four Relocating to Qatar

Hello,

I'm new to the forum, my husband and I are considering relocating to Qatar. We've been offered a job at Doha Academy for 8500 a month + Free accomodations at their compound.

We are currently in Saudi so this salary doesn't sound great to us, but is it acceptable in Qatar if the accomodation is paid for?

Also does anyone live or know anyone who lives on the compound that Doha Academy provides? Is is suitable for a family with two small children? 6 and 2 regarding cleanliness and playground and all.

Thanks

Shahidah

trust me sister , saudi prices times 1.35 = Qatar prices.

everything is expensive here, even food.

i tried it. am married with a 2 years old boy.... trust me, you will not enjoy shopping here, compared to saudi arabia. i dont know about it, its only 5-6 malls. no options, and you cant find competetion here so you (as a consumer) get the benefits. utilities here are like hell.

Ex. 1500 qr for elec. + water + land line + 2 mobiles + internet.

cost of educations is unbelievable.

Good day & hope you are doing well.

Accomadation in Qatar is very expensive and day by day on the rise, its good to hear that you will have a company provided accomodation, Inshaallah. Ensure who pays the electricity and waterbills.

How about your plan on schools for the children? Does doha academy accepts it for free of charge or they accept for reasonable fees as you being their staff.

Regarding your offer, its is a moderate one as they provide a housing. Try negotiating if possible. If both of you have got an offer, you can survive.

One more thing i forgot to tell you, use the search function here and try to get feedbacks about your employer.

Best of luck. May allah bless you and your family for a happy and prosperous life.

how about the kids education (schooling), housebill like water and electric (does the company pay or you have to pay from your own pocket), transportation, medical, and flight to go home once a year for the whole family. They are normally the norm for expat package living here.

Can't say whether thats good wage for your husband ... the standard living in Qatar is getting higher and higher. Probably if you tell us what your husband do, somebody else in the same position can give you their opinion.

Good luck :D
