Family Visit Visa Query?
Hi all, I applied for my mother-in-law's family visit visa yesterday along with all relavent documentation, in order for her to visit us from Pakistan. On the receipt the immigration department gave me, it was mentioned that I'll check with them after 3 working days to find out about the outcome of the application. I guess I can check the status on the internet too.
If the application is successful InshaAllah, then I plan to buy a ticket for my mother-in-law. Can anyone tell me:
1. Does the family visit visa application gets done within 3 working days, as mentioned per the receipt, or does it usually takes longer time?
2. Is there a chance that family visit visa application can get refused even if all documentation was provided. Why will the immigration officer let me submit the application if documentation was missing?
3. Will my mother-in-law get one month visa first, and then I have to renew it for every month she wants to stay in Qatar, up to a maximum of 6 months? If yes, do I need to book her for medicals as soon as she arrives in Qatar, or no booking is required and she can walk through to the medical centre? What is the process for booking the medicals? I dont know as my medicals were booked by my employer.
4. I know she has to have a return ticket in order to fly from Pakistan to Qatar and back. Does this mean, the return date of her ticket should be within one month, as her initial visa will be only valid for one month? This is painful as then I'll have to keep renewing the ticket for every month (and keep paying the penalty for changing return date) she gets her visa extended in Qatar. She is planning to be with us for 3 months.
5. Once she gets her visa, will they stamp the visa on her passport at Doha airport or she needs to get it stamped from Qatar Embassy in Pakistan before travelling?
I apologise about the long list of questions, but I am in dire need of your help, as my wife is pregnant and the baby delivery time is coming very soon. Thanks so much in anticipation.

Hi Burhan, I applied with following documents and got family visit visa for my mother-in-law in 2 days time:
1) Application form filled
2) Copy of valid Qatar ID card of you and your wife
3) Copy of valid passport of you and your wife
4) Copy of valid Qatar Residence visa of you and your wife
5) Copy of your marriage certificate (in either English or Arabic)
6) Copy of your wife's birth certificate (in either English or Arabic) mentioning the name of your wife and your wife's mother
7) Copy of passport of mother-in-law
8) Original letter from your work sponsor citing your profession and salary
Your letter from sponsor should state your salary to be above QAR 5000 (I think so) and your profession should be a high-level one (engineer, doctor, accountant, manager, etc).
Best of Luck

ask too many question were you born with a big question mark on your forehead or what
Hi, the process is fairly simple but not knowing all the answers might make it look complicated, so I have listed the process below and tried to answer your questions as part of it -
1. After application of the visa, the approval/rejection might come as soon as 1 working day or may take it's own time (on average 1 week). If rejected (yes, even after accepting your application it might be rejected for various reasons), you can speak to the immigration head and explain to him that your wife is pregnant (carry docs from Hamad as a precaution). You can check the status of the visa under 'Visa Approval Tracking' and once approved you can print the visa under 'Visa Enquiry & Printing' under the following link -
http://www.moi.gov.qa/site/english/
The above link is for English and you can also print the visa in Arabic by going to the Arabic site.
The visa is valid for one month and can be extended upto 6 months (including the initial month) once your mother-in-law is in Qatar.
2. Take a copy of the visa and go to Qatar Airways office and book a ticket with a return date within 1 month (as the initial visa is valid for 1 month). Do not forgot to ask the ticket agent to add the message 'OK to Board' on the ticket PNR as this would tell the Qatar Airways staff in your home country that the orginal visa will be stamped on arrival.
3. Send the ticket, visa, your passport copy, your wife's passport copy and marriage certificate to your mother-in-law. These documents should be enough, unless your home country has any other requirements such as travel insurance.
4. Once your mother-in-law lands in Qatar, the immigration staff will stamp one month visa on her passport. Within this one month you will have to get her medical done to extend the visa. The medical can be done at Medical Commission or at Ahli Hospital, Doha Clinic or Emadi Hospital. At the medical commission no prior appointment is required, your mother-in-law needs to present her passport and a credit/debit card of yours to make the payment. After she clears the medical (which you can check online), you can go to any immigration office and extend the visa upto a maximum of further 5 months - you can do this all in one go or every month. Once you have extended the visa, then you can extend the ticket.
All the best for the new arrival in your family.
