It is the perfect time to venture outdoors and explore some of Qatar’s most beautiful parks!

The parks also feature high-end modern amenities with variety in children's play areas. The popular public and family parks in Qatar now are quite different from the conventional parks with added features.

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) makes sure that all the parks are perfectly manicured surrounded by flowering trees and boasting comfy walkways to enjoy or jogging tracks to burn calories.

Read on to discover more about the parks making it to the top of our list.

1. Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park

The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park is one of Qatar’s most admired and visited parks.

Located around the Museum of Islamic Art and the Arabian Gulf, it is the perfect place to sit back and enjoy a picnic with family or friends or go for a long stroll - with its extensive pathway, you’re sure to hit your 10,000 steps a day!

Consisting of three play areas for children of different ages, MIA Park is a great place for children to play and keep active. There are also bungee trampolines and bicycle rentals for adults and children if you’re looking for a little more adventure.

When you get to the end of the park you can enjoy sandwiches, salads, pastries, or a coffee at the Park Cafe whilst taking in the views of the amazing Doha skyline.

2. 5/6 Park

The 5/6 park takes its name from the ‘5/6 arch’ monument. The park is in Onaiza, Doha, in a very strategic location surrounded by the tourist hotspots such as Katara, Lusail, and the West Bay beach.

Luscious greenery, playgrounds, prayer rooms, fitness/exercise equipment area, flowers arranged to picture the Qatari flag, hills, beautiful lighting, wall art, and art installations are all the attractions you can find in this park. The park is also pet-friendly.

The park has an ‘observatory area’ at a 5m high hill and from there you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Doha Skyline and the Qatari map-shaped green maze.

The Qatari map-shaped green maze is located at the heart of the park attracting children and even adults to enjoy. The maze is quite engaging as the entrances and exits are named after the coastal cities of Qatar.  The maze is outlined with elegant lighting which illuminates at night.

To promote health and fitness the park features cushioned playgrounds, a fitness/exercise area with equipment, cycling, and jogging paths, stone, and sand walkways.

Ample parking space is available and for the best convenience, Al Qassar Metro station (Red line) is just at walking distance from the park. The park opens at 6:00 am and as mentioned in the park guideline, the green maze can be enjoyed until 7:00 pm.

3. Katara Hills

Katara Hills, located at Katara Cultural Village is divided into the Southern and Northern Hills spanning around 361,500 sq metres.

Enjoy 360-degree scenic views of the Katara waterfront, the amphitheatre, and its distinct buildings, as well as of Doha city.

The Southern Hills makes a perfect venue for overall fitness with its 2.8km rubberized exercise and jogging track around the rolling hills.

The park is open from 5:00 am till midnight. Parking space is available, Al Qassar Metro station and Katara Metro station (Red line) are just at walking distance from the park.

4. Al Khor Family Park

Al Khor Family Park is a great place to escape the city hustle and bustle. Although there is a small entrance fee, the family-friendly park is well worth a visit as there is so much to do and see.

The entry fee is QAR 15 for adults and QAR 10 for children up to 10 years old.

The 240,000-sqm park consists of a mini zoo, a waterfall, a children’s play area, restaurants, a mosque, a museum, water coolers, and an amphitheater.

The park allows residents and citizens to breathe in the fresh air with lots of green spaces, and large trees.

The animal and birds section includes a crocodile lake, two giraffes, an Asian bear, two African lions, two Bengal tigers, two black jaguars, and monkeys, among others.

The birds' section features peacocks, flamingos, ducks, swans amongst others.

The opening hours of the park are from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Please note that, on Tuesdays, only women and children can enter the park.

5. Al Bidda Park

Overlooking the Corniche, and next to the Qatar National Theatre, Al Bidda Park is one of the oldest and most visited parks in Doha.

The park is pet-friendly and has acres of gardens, plenty of greenery, and barbeque stations - perfect for a family day out!

For sports enthusiasts, the park has basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts as well as jogging, walking, and bicycle paths.

Don’t own a bike? No problem! You can rent one in the park at Saikl Bike Rental, located on Fuwairit Street.

Children can enjoy playing for hours in the kid's playgrounds which are fully equipped with slides, seesaws, merry-go-rounds, playhouses, spring riders, and zip lines.

For extra convenience, the park has a few small shops and an underground car park that has space for 6,000 vehicles.
