While studying in Spain his fascination brought him to deeply appreciate his diverse Sudanese Heritage and he has developed an extensive vocabulary of images and subject matter drawn directly from his cultural history.

Painting has always been an intrinsic part of his being, connecting him to the wider world. The creative process for Rashid reflects his humanity; the expression of his emotions and compassion for the universal world translated through color shape and form.

Picasso’s Studios exhibition is taking place at the Fire Station, Gallery Garage until November 1, 2020.

Picasso’s Studios, organized in partnership with the Musée national Picasso-Paris, looks at the intimate examination of Pablo Picasso’s places of creation throughout his life, from his arrival in Paris around 1900 as a young artist to his last stay in the South of France, in the city of Mougins.

Picasso occupied many studios over the course of his storied career, and they bear a close connection to his development of iconic movements in Modern art history.

From the exceptional collections of the Musée national Picasso-Paris the objects on view range from landmark paintings to sculpture, drawings, engravings, and ceramic works. They are the works that Picasso kept in his studios, the works from which he did not want to be separated from.
