Having a hard time finding a maid/nanny

Can't apply for a nanny/maid as don't have a maid visa. Am a single mum with an 8 year old. Anyone else out there in the same situation?
Can't book her into school, none open and all on waiting lists. sigh. Don't want to give up my job here, but am considering going back home.
Any suggestions?

Hi, I'm also a single mum - also Australian too. I had a hard time when I got here in January this year. I also thought about leaving. But I found a way to sort it out -I went directly to the Labour Ministry. So long as you have your documents (you and your daughter need your residence permits as well as your marriage certificate etc) you can get permission for a nanny. You can get this permission the same day. Once you have this, you can go to an agency and ask for a nanny who is already oin the country - usually one who has asked to change families. This can avoid the 6 week delay of bringing a nanny here. Or, if there is a nanny that you want to sponsor directly you can do this through the Labour ministry. It is a pain and incredibly frustrating. I was at the Labout Ministry at least a dozen times. But if you want my advice then feel free to call me and I'd be happy to help. Send me a private message if you want to chat and I'll send you my phone number. Hang in there. There are plenty of people who are willing to help.

Hi,

I have tried getting a maid visa, but haven't lived here long enough. I was told I had to work here for 6 months first. That is why I can't get any maids from any agencies - I dont' have a visa.

Cheers

Thank you for your ideas and suggestions. I will look into them and let you know how it goes. I did not know that a single mother could get a maids visa earlier.

thank you

Hi austeacher, i'm sending email to [email protected], but my email always come back to me, maybe your inbox on hotmail is full that is the reason why you say it is very hard to look for a nanny because you don't receive any response. i read your ads since friday(infact you posted it twice) that you are looking for a nanny.Anyway here is my email

Hi, I'm a Filipina, a plain housewife and a mother of 2 girls ages 8 an 4 yrs old. and by this coming September 3 they will be back to school(Cambridge Int'l for girls).

I'm offering my service as a babysitter and I used to babysit(as my part time) a month old to grade school when my husband was working in Jeddah. I also do tutoring, while I babysit them I let them do their school homework (I think you daughter is same grade as my daughter which is grade 3), so when they go home they are free to do other things in their house. I offer my service to those parents who are both working, they drop their children in our house and pick them after their office hour. Anyway, I live this up to you if you like this idea anyway it is your decision as i would like to help parents to take care their children while both are working. I live here in Doha Grand Hotel room 3A, this is across The Centre (Mega Centre supermarket) in a round about here in Al Saad near Ramada Hotel. you can post me if you like. Hope I can help you.

Thank you. GOD bless you all.
